Mosasaurus
The Mosasaurus was a large pre-historic reptile, more specifically a lizard that has lived in the sea. The name Mosasaurus was named after the Meuse River where the Mosasaurus was first discovered and the name Mosasaurus literally meant the Meuse Lizard.
The Mosasaurus could grow up to 17 meters which is about 56 feet while it would weigh up to 15 tons. The Mosasaurus in Jurassic World is larger than a natural Mosasaurus would be.
The Mosasaurus was believed to feed on any animal that lived in the ocean such as fish, sharks and even smaller mosasaurus like how it was depicted in Jurassic World. Scientists believe that the Mosasaurus really did have a very strong bite force like the movie.
The Mosasaurus in Jurassic World resided in the Mosasaurus Lagoon and it was one of the main attractions for visitors by the Mosasaurus feeding show where wired sharks would be fed to the Mosasaurus which it would jump out of the water and snatch from the air.
The Mosasaurus was responsible for killing the assistant of Claire, Zara Young who was the British woman that was supposed to babysit Zach and Gray. Zara Young was first captured by the Pteranodon that broke out of the Aviary but as several Pteranodon started to compete each other for her in the Jurassic World Lagoon, the Mosasaurus swallowed her and a Pteranodon alive.
The Mosasaurus also finsihed off the Indominus Rex after it lost the final battle against the velociraptor Blue and the Tyrannosaurus Rex Rexy.
How did InGen clone the Mosasaurus?
Although the biotechnology in Jurassic Park and Jurassic World are all fictional, the Mosasaurus DNA wasn’t available from the mosquito amber fossils. Dr. Henry Wu along with his subordinates discovered a new iron analyzer that could detect DNA fragments from a Mosasaurus fossil.
InGen attempted to use this iron analyzer to start their research and cloning operations on marine pre-historic animals and plants after the success of the creation of the Mosasaurus. InGen’s Mosasaurus was actually given a different species genus called the Mosasaurus Maximus due to the immersible size it had.
Ankylosaurus
The name Ankylosaurus meant “Stiff Lizard” which was named after the thick plates of armor as if it was a tank. The ankylosaurus also had a thick clublike bone on its tail that it could swing around for defense. The osteoderms or the bone cells of the ankylosaurus made unique spikes and plates that could cover up most of the body of the ankylosaurus except for the belly.
The ankylosaurus was an herbivore which would have a height that could grow up to 3 meters or 10 feet while its length could grow up to 28 feet which is about 8.5 meters.
The ankylosaurus could also weigh up to 6 tons which is about 13,500 pounds. The ankylosaurus would also form herds while they roamed around for food.
The ankylosaurus was also another illegal species that was created during the timepoint before Jurassic Park 3 along with the Spinosaurus. Zach and Gray encounter a herd of ankylosaurus in the gyrosphere where all of them were attacked by the Indominus Rex.
Apatosaurus
The Apatosaurus was another long-necked sauropod dinosaur that was created by the Hammond Creation Lab under the Masrani Global Corporation. The name Apatosaurus meant ‘deceptive lizard’ The Apatosaurus could weight up to 22 tons while it could grow up to 75 feet which is about 23 meters long with a height in average about 4.5 meters or about 15 feet.
The Apatosaurus had a smaller height than the Brachiosaurus where it wouldn’t usually raise its head 90 degrees vertical like the Brachiosaurus.
The apatosaurus could use their tail like a whip as a defensive mechanism, however in the movie Jurassic World, the apatosaurus were described as modes dinosaurs that couldn’t resist to the Indominus Rex.
The Indominus Rex would slaughter the herd of apatosaurus for sports which is an unusual behavior for a wild animal.
Dimorphodon
The small flying dinosaurs with many sharp teeth with a big head and mouse was called a Dimorphodon. The Dimorphodon was a pterosaur that had distinctively many sharp teeth but it also had two types of teeth that gave its name Dimorphodon that means ‘two-forms of teeth’.
The Dimorphodon was somewhat exaggerated to look vicious in the Jurassic World series and scientists believe that the Dimorphodon rather fed on insects and small animals or may have fed on small fish.
The wingspan of the dimorphodon was expected to grow up to 1.4 meters which is about 4.5 pounds while it would weight up to 3kgs which is about 6.6 pounds.
Although the dimorphodon were described as a small but lethal pterosaur with a strong bite force, however the Dimorphodon in reality are believed to have a weak jaw and couldn’t bite people with a strong grip.
After the Indominus Rex broke into the Aviary while it tried to outmaneuver the helicopter piloted by Simon Masrani, the crash of the helicopter caused a mass breakout of the Pteranodons and the Dimorphodon living in the Aviary.
The Dimorphodon and the Pteranodons started to attack the visitors of Jurassic World on the main street causing chaos.
The small dinosaurs – Gentle Giants Petting Zoo
Jurassic World had a small petting zoo of the offsprings of larger growing dinosaurs such as the Parasaurolophus, Gallimimus, Stegosaurus, Apatosaurus and the Stegosaurus.
