Isla Sorna Facilities

Isla Sorna was one of the islands that InGen has leased from the Cosa Rica government where InGen has established Site B and the genetic development compound as well as a dinosaur containment unit. The Worker Village was the main residence for the InGen employees that were working on Isla Sorna.

After a hurricane hit Isla Sorna and all dinosaurs were released, the velociraptors took territory in the Worker Village. The radio of Isla Sorna were located in Worker Village so the survivors had to eventually enter velociraptor territory.

The InGen compound or the Embryonics Administration was the research complex where the dinosaurs were revived, researched and genetically experimented by InGen.

The InGen Compound, the Embryonics wasn’t featured in Lost World Jurassic Park 2 but it appears in Jurassic Park 3 where Dr. Alan Grant and the crew were first ambushed by the velociraptors. There was also an aviary that contained Pteranodons which is also premiered in Jurassic Park 3.

Why did InGen evacuate Isla Sorna?

Although Isla Sorna was apart from Isla Nublar where Jurassic Park actually resided, Isla Sorna was hit by a powerful hurricane and all operations had to halt due to the damage by the hurricane. InGen couldn’t control the chaos and eventually evacuate Isla Sorna. Yet, as InGen’s original plan to deplete Lysine metabolism to control the dinosaur population didn’t function and dinosaurs flourished on Isla Nublar.

After InGen board members found out that dinosaurs were still surviving on Isla Sorna, the new CEO Peter Ludlow plans to capture the dinosaurs and relocate them to San Diego for Jurassic Park San Diego to compensate the financial losses that InGen has faced.

Tyrannosaurus Rex – Sensitive olfactory senses and keen sight

Although the tyrannosaurus rex is depicted as a predator with bad eye sight in the Jurassic Park series, in reality many scientists think that tyrannosaurus rex had very good optic sight and senses, in other words scientists believe that the tyrannosaurs rex had good eye sight.

Scientists also hypothesized after examining the head structure of the t-rex that the t-rex had optic senses with a broader spectrum than ordinary animals. This means that the t-rex may have even detected light outside the visible light spectrum like the infrared spectrum.

Research on the tyrannosaurs rex brain and skull structure also concluded that the Tyrannosaurus Rex had superior olfactory senses, thus it had very sensitive smelling abilities.

Scientists noticed that the section of the Tyrannosaurus Rex’ brain that manages the olfactory senses were unusually larger compared with other dinosaurs.

Thus the Tyrannosaurus Rex was an even more vicious predator depicted in Jurassic Park as it is depicted with poor eyesight with good smelling abilities. The tyrannosaurus Buck and Doe could have easily tracked anyone that tried to kidnap their offspring Junior to death

Why did the Tyrannosaurus rex wake up in the middle

The Tyrannosaurus Rex male Buck woke up in the middle of his transport to San Diego on the S.S. Venture. The male Tyrannosaurus Rex wiped out the whole crew while one crew member was able to successfully detain the dinosaur in the cargo container which was eventually opened by Peter Ludlow.

The Tyrannosaurus Rex was shot with 10 mgs of carfentanil which was 10,000 times powerful than morphine and 100 times powerful than fentanyl. In the film, Roland Tembo used 10 mgs of carfentanil which is known as a near lethal dose for an elephant that weights 15,000 pound which is almost 7 tons.

The Tyrannosaurus Rex weighted between 11,000 to 15,000 pounds which is about 5~7 tons. Thus, the Tyrannosaurus Rex was shot with a near lethal dose and the InGen team would have had to use opioid antagonists such as naltrexone or naloxone to counter measure the effects of carfentanil.

However, the dose of the antagonists may have been misadjusted and the t-rex woke up too early on the ship S.S. Venture.

John Hammond’s Death and the M&A by the Masrani Global Corporation

John Hammond after going through the Jurassic Park incident at Isla Nublar has questioned his ambitions of bringing back dinosaurs to life and the arrogance of his ideas. John Hammond after being held off from CEO of InGen strongly believed that the dinosaurs that were already brought to life had to remain in peace without interference of humans.

He sends the research team to explore the nature of Isla Sorna for the purpose of appreciating nature while he gave Nick Van Owen a secret mission to sabotage the InGen Harvest Team if given the chance.

After the San Diego Incident and the death of Peter Ludlow, John Hammond makes a testament to the public that the dinosaurs are surely a beauty but should remain intact from humans and he supported the legislation of the Gene Guard Act.

However, after the death of John Hammond, unlike his wishes, Masrani Global Corporation acquires InGen and conducts secret research on Isla Sorna.

The Gene Guard Act restricted any activities of creating new species of dinosaurs and made an official list of all dinosaurs lists that InGen created which was called the InGen List.

The Masrani Global Corporation created new species of dinosaurs illegally that weren’t listed on the InGen List but the team had to evacuate Isla Sorna once more. Among the illegal experiment of new species, was the creation of the Spinosaurus.
