Isla Sorna

Jurassic Park 2 : Lost World Jurassic Park 3 takes place on Isla Sorna which is also known as Site B for InGen. Isla Sorna was located further west from Isla Nublar about 200 miles 330 km from Costa Rica.

Isla Sorna was part of the Muertes Archipelago also known as the five islands of death. Isla Sorna was a both a research compound and development compound.

Along with these research facilities and housing for the research staffs, this region was called the Worker Village. Later on, the Worker Village becomes velociraptor territory.

On Isla Sorna Site B, InGen has researched and restored dinosaurs from fossils and they raised them before they were fully grown and then shipped to Isla Nublar where Jurassic Park was located.

However, after the Jurassic Park incident, a hurricane called Clarissa has hit Isla Sorna as well that heavily damaged all the research and growth facilities of the dinosaurs.

InGen had to abandon Isla Sorna and expected all the dinosaurs to die because of the Lysine Contingency. However, the dinosaurs have ‘found their way’ and continued to prosper on Isla Sorna where the carnivores would reside in the center of the island and herbivores would live on the rims of theisland.

Bowman Incident – Attack on the young girl Cathy

The British family the Bowmans have been a cruise trip on Isla Sorna which was the second site B that engineered and developed dinosaurs by InGen. The young daughter of the Bowmans Cathy Bowman has been ambushed by a pack of Compsognathus which horrified the Bowmans family and their yacht crew. The bowman family has filed a lawsuit against InGen for this Compsognathus attack.

After the Jurassic Park Tragedy

InGen had to suffer huge financial losses due to the Isla Nublar Incident. InGen not only had to face the loss of equipment and assets (in the perspective of InGen dinosaurs were assets), but they also had to face the lawsuits by the families of Donnald Gennaro, the deceased lawyer by the tyrannosaurus rex, John Arnold, the computer engineer and the warden/game keeper Robert Muldoon who were murdered by the velociraptors.

InGen also had to pay the media to silence the Isla Nublar Incident. Dr. Ian Malcom, however, despite receiving a compensation decided to publish a book to the public that conflicted with the non-disclosure agreement.

Dr. Ian Malcolm was also discredited by the media as InGen not only compensated for the silence of the Isla Nublar incident but also to discredit Dr. Ian Malcolm while InGen officially mocked Ian Malcolm as the media made him a fool.

InGen’s plan after Jurassic Park Tragedy – San Diego Jurassic Park

After the lawsuits by the Isla Nublar Jurassic Park incident, Ian Malcom’s publication, loss of Isla Nublar and Isla Sorna facilities and the Bowman Incident, Dr. John Hammond was forced to step down from CEO and his nephew Peter Ludlow becomes the CEO of InGen, Peter Ludlow creates an amphitheater display for dinosaurs for Jurassic Park: San Diego to compensate for the massive losses of InGen.

The amphitheater structure of Jurassic Park: San Diego was the original plans of John Hammond and a legacy of him.

John Hammond abandoned the San Diego project as he thought it was too small to capture the magnificence of the dinosaurs and his great work so John Hammond decided to lease Isla Nublar and Isla Sorna instead for a greater ambition that would crumble as he was too arrogant and neglected the power of nature

.

Peter Ludlow hires the team of hunter Roland Tembo to lead the InGen Harvest Team and capture dinosaurs on Isla Sorna to feature at Jurassic Park: San Diego.

Although controversial, John Hammond who has become an environmentalist after he became fond of the existence of dinosaurs themselves and pledged guilty of his arrogance in creating dinosaurs send Dr. Ian Malcom, Eddie Carr, Sarah Harding and Nick Van Owen to explore the dinosaurs while stop the InGen harvest team.

Consequences of the Tyrannosaurus rex San Diego Incident

InGen has denied the presence of Jurassic Park and even made Dr. Ian Malcolm a fool as part of its denial of existence of Jurassic Park. Dr. Ian Malcolm has published a book that described the Isla Nublar Jurassic Park Incident while InGen has counterfeit that Dr. Ian Malcolm has gone crazy by manipulating the media.

After the tyrannosaurs Buck’s rampage at San Diego and the failure of opening Jurassic Park in San Diego, InGen had to publicly admit the presence of dinosaurs and their work with bringing dinosaurs back to life.

The Costa Rica and the United States of America government had to restrict Isla Nublar and Isla Sorna from entrance and InGen depleted their financial assets due to the lawsuits including those from the first Isla Nublar incident, the Bowman family incident and the San Diego incident.

Although InGen barely survived the financial losses, after John Hammond’s death the Masrani Global Corporation has acquired InGen.

Gene Guard Act – Response to InGen and the existence of dinosaurs

The Former ENGPR(Ethical Negligence within Paleo-Genetic Resurrection) Act was reformed as the Gene Guard Act by the United States of America Congress and the House Committee of Science in 1997 after the rampage by tyrannosaurus rex Buck in San Diego.

The public was shocked to witness an alive dinosaur, tyrannosaurus rex that killed people and made a rampage in San Diego. Dr. Ian Malcolm became famous and restored his credibility as ironically, he was proven true for his book that he wrote right after the Jurassic Park Isla Nublar Incident.

The United States of America Congress was keen to protect the dinosaurs that were already revived, however it also restricted corporations such as InGen and the Masrani Global Corporation that later acquires InGen from producing any other prehistoric animals or plants.

By the Gene Guard Act, InGen had to produce the InGen dinosaur list which contained the species of dinosaurs that InGen has already developed, revived and researched. The Gene Guard Act banned any scientific activities to further revive any other dinosaur species by the InGen list and attempted to protect the animal rights of the already created dinosaurs.

Restriction on Isla Sorna and Isla Nublar

After the San Diego Incident, the US government and the Costa Rica government collaborates to shut down and restrict any entries into Isla Nublar and the Mueretes Archipelago including Isla matanceros, Isla Muerta, Isla Sorna, Isla Tacano and Isla Pena.

However, there were some activities by the Masrani Global Corporation after they’ve acquired InGen. In fact, Masrani Global Corporation along with the former InGen employees would make another research compound on Isla Sorna and conducted covert ops research that was illegal by the Gene Guard Act.

In 1998, additional species of dinosaurs that weren’t on the InGen list such as the Spinosaurus were revived and once again, the research compound was abandoned.

M&A of InGen with Masrani Global Corporation

The Masrani Global Corporation, which was a giant company, conducted business in energy, health, construction and telecommunications has acquired InGen after the San Deigo Incident and the death of John Hammond. Masrani Global Corporation founded by Sanjay Masrani was inherited by Simon Masrani.

Simon Masrani had ambitions of opening the theme park of dinosaurs where people could watch them “safely and peacefully” following the same mistakes of John Hammond. While John Hammond was overconfident of controlling the dinosaurs and Jurassic Park, Simon Masrani was ignorant of the actual delicacy and caution required for the dinosaurs and the creation of Jurassic World. Both led to disasters.
