Male Tyrannosaurus Rex – Buck
The male Tyrannosaurus Rex of Isla Sorna was named Buck which means a male deer. InGen has cloned seven Tyrannosaurus Rex, however it is unknown why the T-Rex Buck was engineered as a male while InGen planned to keep the dinosaur population by only breeding females.
Buck has partnered with the female Tyrannosaurus Rex named Doe and gave birth to the young Tyrannosaurus Rex Junior. The male Tyrannosaurus Rex Buck had a green color.
Buck was responsible for the attack on Ian Malcom’s trailer and death of Eddie Carr. Buck and Doe even followed the scents of the juvenile t-rex’s blood odor on Sarah Harding’s vest and ripped the InGen Harvest team apart.
The leader of the InGen harvest team Roland Tembo failed to kill the Buck, the male Tyrannosaurus Rex because Nick Van Owen took out the ammunition rom his double-barrel rifle. However, Roland Tembo quickly prepares a carfentanil ammunition loaded rifle and shot Buck down.
Peter Ludlow would later ship the tranquilized tyrannosaurus rex Buck and shipped him on the S.S. Venture cargo ship. InGen employees would have been concerned on the high dose of carfentanil and gave Buck an antagonist that woke him up and allow Buck to kill all the crew members of the S.S. Venture.
The tyrannosaurus rex Buck has frightened San Diego while Dr. Sarah Harding and Ian Malcolm had to lure him with the juvenile t-rex. Buck was then tranquilized and shipped back from San Diego on the S.S. Venture along with the young t-rex Junior to Isla Sorna.
Female Tyrannosaurus Rex – Doe
The female tyrannosaurus rex which was the partner of Buck was named Doe after the female deer. The female tyrannosaurus rex Doe had an offspring with Buck called junior.
Along with Buck, Doe has attacked Ian Malcolm’s crew and pushed off the Fleetwood RV Mobile Lab off the cliff and even kill Eddie Carr who came for the aid of Ian Malcolm. The female tyrannosaurus rex Doe had a reddish color.
Doe would attack the camp of InGen harvest team and Ian Malcolm’s crew as Buck and Doe followed the scent of the juvenile t-rex’s blood that was splattered all over Dr. Sarah Harding’s vest.
Doe has crushed Carter who was one of the mercenaries that was constantly listening to music and she even ate Dr. Robert Burke who was surprised from a snake and jumped out from the waterfall the humans were hiding in.
The t-rex Doe reunited with Buck and their offspring Junior after Buck and Junior were once shipped to San Diego.\
Infant Tyrannosaurus Rex – Junior & Did Tyrannosaurs Rex care of their offspring
The young infant tyrannosaurus rex Junior had to depend on food and safety solely on it s parents Buck and Doe. After Roland Tembo discovered Junior in his nest, Roland Tembo and his lieutenant Ajay Sidhu injured Junior’s leg and made him cry to lure the adult tyrannosaurs rex.
While Nick Van Owen sabotaged the InGen harvest team camp by releasing the dinosaurs, Sarah Harding and Nick Van Owen brought Junior to the Fleetwood RV Mobile lab to treat Junior’s leg.
The adult tyrannosaurus rex Buck and Doe attacked the crew and even took revenge of Junior by chasing the humans.
However, Junior was recaptured and shipped to San Diego where Junior got his opportunity to take revenge on InGen CEO Peter Ludlow. Junior learns how to hunt and made his first ever kill by finishing off Peter Ludlow under his father Buck’s guide. Junior was shipped back to Isla Sorna where Buck, Doe and Junior the Tyrannosaurus rex family reunited.
Unlike the depiction of the tyrannosaurus Buck, Doe and Junior, there isn’t much fossil evidence to support that tyrannosaurus rex would take care of their offspring. B
y current date, there aren’t many fossils of infant tyrannosaurus rex discovered that makes it difficult to even make an assumption on the parenting of tyrannosaurs rexes.
Compsognathus
The tiny green but deadly dinosaurs in many numbers that attacked the little girl Cathy Bowman in the start of Jurassic Park 2: Lost world and killed Dieter Stark was called a Compsognathus.
The name Compsognathus means “pretty jaw” as it had many sharp teeth somehow the initial discoverers thought it was pretty. Compsognathus would only weight up to 3.5kg which is about 7.7 pounds and it would grow about 1meter 3.3 feet in length thus the size of a chicken.
In Jurassic Park, these were also referred as compys in short. The novel Jurassic Park has depicted that the Compsognathus have venom but there isn’t any solid evidence that they had venom.
Compsognathus were expected to be scavengers or hunt on smaller animals and there isn’t solid evidence that they could be very deadly in packs or mass unlike how they were depicted in the movies. However throughout the Jurassic Park series, the Compsognathus were discovered as deadly animals that would attack larger prey in packs.
Stegosaurus
The name stegosaurus meant “Roof-lizard” The stegosaurus had many plates that protruded from its back and had a tail with spikes that it would utilize for defense. A stegosaurus could grow up to 9 meters or 30 feet in length while it could weigh up to five tons.
Scientists suppose that the plates on the back of the stegosaurus functioned as a body temperature regulating mechanism or a defense method which it would point its plates against predators to intimidate them.
Stegosaurus fossil evidence suggest that stegosaurus were herbivores that would form herds. Stegosaurus are believed to have a very low intelligence; in fact, some researchers claim that stegosaurs was the dinosaur with the lowest intelligence.
Stegosaurus only had the brain size equivalent to a kitten. The stegosaurus first appear in Jurassic Park 2: Lost world when Dr. Ian Malcolm arrives on Isla Sorna and found his girlfriend Dr. Sarah Harding taking film of the stegosaurus herd.
Parasaurolophus
The name Parasaurolophus meant that ‘nearly crested lizard’ which referred to the unique head crest that would face behind the head of the Parasaurolophus. The Parasaurolophus is also referred as the Parasaur. The Parasaurolophus also had a unique duck bill like mouth.
Parasaurolophus could grow up to 37 feet which is about 11.5 meters in length with a height up to 15 feet about 4.5meters while they could weigh up to 3.5 tons.
Parasaurs or Parasaurolophus were herbivores and while they would form herds especially near water sources, many Parasaurolophus fossils were discovered with other dinosaurs such as brachiosaurus and triceratops which imply that they would have coexisted with other herbivore dinosaurs often.
Roland Tembo couldn’t pronounce Parasaurolophus and he refers them as Elvis Presley after its distinctive head shape.
Mamenchisaurus
The long-necked dinosaurs that resemble a brachiosaurus is actually a different dinosaur called in Mamenchisaurus that premieres in Jurassic Park 2: Lost World. T
he name mamenchisaurus derive from the Chinese term Mamenchi where Ma which means horse, men which means gate and chi means stream. The mamenchisaurus was first discovered in 1952 in a construction site of the Yitang Highway in Sichuan, Mamingxi, China. Thus, the mamenchisaurus’s name was rather named after the Mamenxi or Mamingxi city where it was found.
Although the mamenchisaurus share many traits with the brachiosaurus, mamenchisaurus lacked the ability to stand on two feet to graze on vegetation located up high and rather fed on vegetation low on the ground. The Mamenchisaurus could weigh up to 45 tons with a body length up to 22 meters, 72 feet and height of 3.5 meters, 11.5 feet.
Pachycephalosaurus
The dinosaur with a thick bone head that would bash into the InGen harvest team was called a Pachycephalosaurus. The name pachycephalosaurus means “thick-headed lizard” due to its monk like thick head.
Although the Pachycephalosaurus became publicly known to ram each other as if they were like male horned sheep, scientists doubt that Pachycephalosaurus would actually use their thick rounded heads for headbutting because the structure of the skull doesn’t fit to accommodate such physical force.
Scientists rather suppose that the thick skull of the Pachycephalosaurus is more for mating attraction or recognize the same species. The Pachycephalosaurus are expected to be omnivores as they have a distinctive tooth compared with ordinary herbivores.
Pachycephalosaurus could weigh up to 900 pounds or about 410 kgs and their length would be about 4.5 meters or 15 feet long.
