300x250

Marjorie Dursley – Vernon Dursley’s elder sister

Marjorie Eileen Dursley or “Marge Dursley” was the elder sister of Vernon Dursley. Marge Dursley was a bulldog breeder and she always brought her favorite bulldog Ripper along with her. Marjorie Dursley was a masculine woman so even Vernon had a hard time to cope with her.

As Marjorie Dursley breeds bulldogs for a living, along with her tough and strong personality, she would insult often insult Harry Potter’s parents especially Harry’s mother Lilly.

Even Petunia felt harassed by Marjorie Dursley’s mocks on her sister Lilly and Petunia didn’t like the bulldog Ripper as he would ravage the Dursley’s house.

Vernon and Petunia just didn’t want to cause trouble with Marge Dursley, so they’ve tried their best to just keep Harry out of her sight and have acted patient themselves with Marge.

Marge Dursley wasn’t aware of the magic world and when she said that “the way the boy's turned out. If there's something wrong with the bitch, there'll be something wrong with the pup.”,

Harry Potter unconsciously casted an inflating charm on her and Marge Dursley was bloated and floated away. Even Petunia felt uncomfortable with Marge’s words but the Dursleys were frightened to death as Marge floated away.

Harry Potter leaves the Dursley’s immediately, again furious and encounters a strange black hound which mysteriously disappears immediately after Harry encounters the Knight Bus.

Knight Bus – Bus to help wizards and witches

The Knight Bus was a AEC Regent III RT model double decker bus manufactured by London Transport and the AEC(Associated Equipment Company, this was a company that manufactured trucks, busses etc). It offered transportation service to wizards and witches who were lost or homeless.

The name ‘knight’ itself was a pun for running at night and a knight that offers help to those in need. After Harry Potter burst out from the Dursley’s in anger, the knight bus offers him service and a ride to the Leaky Cauldron where Harry takes shelter before he goes to Hogwarts.

The Knight bus offered emergency transport to wizards and witches but it also acted as a temporary shelter to those who were stranded. The British government actually operates bus shelters as a mobile night shelter for homeless people.

Stan Shunpike – Conductor of the Knight bus

While Harry Potter took a ride on the knight bus, he meets with Stanley Shunpike or “Stan Shunpike” who was the conductor of the Knight bus. He was a very chatty person so Harry Potter introduced himself as Neville Longbottom under suspicion of Stan Shunpike’s unusually chatty behavior.

While Ernie Prang drove the Knight Bus, Stan Shunpike was responsible for the whole operations and services of the knight bus. The cost for a ride on the knight bus charged 11 sickles regardless of distance of travel.

A Brief History of Time – Stephen Hawking

Interestingly, in the film, Stephen Hawking’s best seller “a Brief History of Time” premieres for a moment while Harry Potter enters the Leaky Cauldron. The wizarding world shared terms of astronomy with the muggle world. Thus, Stephen Hawking’s lecture would have been an interesting topic of wizards and witches as well.

What happened to Aunt Marjorie Dursley

Harry Potter encounters the Minister for Magic Cornelius Fudge at the Leaky Cauldron. Minster Cornelius Fudge informs of what happened to Aunt Marjorie to Harry.

He informed Harry that two officers from the Accidental Magic Reversal division found Aunt Marjorie floating around at Privet Drive and they’ve restored her back and erased all of her memories as well as the muggle witnesses.

Harry Potter was surprised that he wasn’t at least expelled from Hogwarts and Minister Cornelius Fudge informs that he wasn’t willing to put Harry Potter on trial or possibly put him on a trip to Azkaban.

How did the Dursley’s act to Aunt Marjorie incident

Minster Cornelius Fudge also informed Harry Potter that Vernon Dursley and Petunia Dursley were both furious of Aunt Marjorie floating away. However, minister Fudge also told Harry that the Dursleys were still willing to provide Harry shelter after he returns from Hogwarts.

Surprisingly, their memories weren’t erased. However, the context of the whole Harry Potter series imply that the Dursley’s had a secret agreement with Albus Dumbledore

The monster book of monsters

Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them written by Newt Scamander and The Monster Book of Monsters written by Edwardus Lima were the two textbooks required for Care of Magical Creatures class.

The Monster Book of Monsters is supposed to be written ahead of Newt Scamander’s Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them.

The Monster Book of Monsters itself was a book with an aggressive behavior that tried to crunch on anything it sees. Even bookstores such as Flourish and Blotts had to encage these books as they were ruthlessly aggressive. The book had to be gently petted to open up properly.

Daily Prophet Grand Prize Galleon Draw – How the Weasley’s took a trip to Egypt

The Weasley Family won a lottery that was held by the Daily Prophet which was the largest media in the British wizard and witch world.

The Daily Prophet Grand Prize Galleon Draw’s first prize was 700 galleons. The Weasley family were interviewed by the Daily Prophet for winning this lottery as they’ve spent it on a trip to Egypt to visit their eldest son William “Bill” Weasley.

The entire Weasley family took a photo for the Daily Prophet as they’ve celebrated their trip to Egypt visiting Bill Weasley who was working for the Gringotts Bank as a curse breaker in Egypt. Even Scabbers, the rat of Percey Weasley and handed down to Ron was on the photo.
