Settlement on Arvernien
After Tuor and Idril took refuge at the mouth of Sirion, they’ve became the leaders of the refugees of Doriath, Brethil and Gondolin and settled in Arvernien that was west of the Havens of Sirion, the mouth of Sirion.
Tuor and Idril took in the daughter of Dior (son of Beren and Luthien) Elwing who held a Silmaril when she escaped Doriath because of the second kinslaying of the Noldor elves of House of Feanor. The refugees of Arvernien would communicate and interact with the elves of the Balar islands led by Cirdan and Gil-Galad.
Sea-Longing of Tuor
Tuor was the first human to reach the Belegaer Sea, and he developed a strong desire called the ‘Sea-Longing’ where he would desire to set sail and voyage the sea. After Tuor and Idril settled at Arvernien, the Sea-Longing grew stronger as Tuor lived near the Belegaer Sea.
Eventually Tuor built a ship called Earrame and he would set sail to the west together with Idril after their son Earendil became old enough.
Idril would hand over the Elessar or the Elfstone that held the light of the Sun as she sensed she might not see her son Earendil forever.
Elessar, the Elfstone
The Elessar was a green jewel forged in Gondolin that was gifted to Idril, and Idril gave the Elessar to her son Earendil as she sensed that she would never see her son again. After numerous years the Elessar was given to Galadriel and Galadriel would gift the Elessar to Aragorn during the Lord of the Rings Fellowship of the Ring.
Galadriel gifted the Elessar to Aragorn not only as simple gift but it was more of an approval of Aragorn’s marriage with Arwen as Galadriel was technically the maternal grandmother.
Aragorn would later take the name as Elessar when he was crowned the king of Gondor in honor of the Elessar.
Tuor and Idril’s journey to the west and Valinor
After Idril gifted the Elessar to Earendil, Tuor and Idril set voyage to the west. Eventually, the human hero Tuor and Idril weren’t bound to the Doom of Mandos, and they were successfully able to cross the Belegaer Sea. Eventually Tuor and Idril has reached Valinor.
By the powers and approval of the Valars, Tuor became the first human that was admitted as an elf, an Eldar. Tuor became immortal and resided together with Idril in Valinor and never returned to Middle-Earth.
Marriage of Earendil and Elwing, Birth of Elrond and Elros
Earendil started to lead the elves of Arvernien after Tuor and Idril never returned from their voyage to the west. Years later, Earendil and Elwing fell in love and married each other and they’ve gave birth to the twins Elrond and Elros that shall become great heroes of middle earth.
Elrond would become the Elf lord of Rivendell and Elros would become the first king and founder of the Numenor kingdom.
Voyage of Earendil to the west by Vingilote
Earendil and the refugees of Arvernien have interacted with the elves led by Cirdan at the Balar Islands. Morgoth’s forces have already destroyed all the elf kingdoms on middle earth where only the forces of House of Feanor were strong enough to resist.
However, the House of Feanor Noldor elves were also in a frenzy by the Oath of Feanor that drove them mad enough to cause the Second Kinslaying that devastated Doriath despite the war against Morgoth.
Earendil was desperate for the help of the Valars for the war against Morgoth and wanted to seek his missing parents. With the help of the shipmaker Cirdan, Earendil made the Vingilote or Vingilot and set sail to the west for both to seek aid from the Valars and find his parents.
News of Elwing’s survival reaches House of Feanor
Elwing was left alone at Avernien and unfortunately, the news of Elwing’s survival reached Ossiriand and went into the ears of Maedhros, Maglor, Amrod and Amras (Yet there are many changes in the stories of Amrod and Amras in the Legendarium), the sons of Feanor.
Maedhros and Maglor felt guilt from the Second Kinslaying of the elves, especially when Curufin’s elves abandoned the twin brothers of Elwing to starve to death in the forest.
However, the Oath of Feanor drove the sons of Feanor to reclaim Silmaril. The elves of House of Feanor sent a message to return the Silmaril but Elwing refused as the Silmaril was the last heirloom of her great grandfather Thingol and her father Dior. The Noldor elves of House Feanor rush to the Havens of Sirion.
The Third Kinslaying of the elves by House of Feanor
The Third kinslaying was also referred to as The Last and Cruelest of the Slayings of Elf by Elf. Even some of the Noldor elves that served the House of Feanor refused the genocide and joined the poor refugees that were mostly civilian elves.
However, the traitors of House Feanor were also all slaughtered by House of Feanor and the elves of House Feanor massacred all the Sindar, Noldor elves and even the Edain humans that have taken refuge at the Havens of Sirion.
Amrad and Amros were killed during the genocide of the Third Kinslaying but the elves of House Feanor slaughtered most of the refugees at the Haven of Sirion.
Cirdan and Gil-Galad came for aid but they’ve received the news too late and they were only able to rescue a handful of survivors to the Balar islands. Yet the sons of Feanor where only Maedhros and Maglor remained failed to retrieve the Silmaril again.
Death of Elwing, Capture and Adoption of Elrond and Elros by Maglor
Elwing cast herself into the Belegaer Sea with the Silmaril during the Third Kinslaying (There are lots of controversies over her). The Vala Ulmo pitied Elwing and transformed her into a white sea bird.
The sons of Feanor once again failed to retrieve the Silmaril as Elwing cast herself to the sea with the Silmaril. Maedhros and Maglor captured Elrond and Elros, the twin brothers and sons of Earendil and Elwing.
However, the guilt of the death of the twin sons of Dior struck Maedhros and Maglor. After the Third Kinslaying the Maglor started to hold a grudge against the Oath of Feanor and the terrible consequences it has brought.
Maglor would take Elrond and Elros as his foster children and took great care of them mentoring and teaching them as well. Elrond and Elros also did sincerely love their foster father Maglor as Maglor has raised them with love.
