Spinner’s End – Severus Snape’s house location
Severus Snape was born and resided at street named Spinner’s End. Spinner’s End was a fictional location which residents had low income with a mirky river nearby.
.Spinner’s End was close to the residence of Petunia Evans and Lily Evans. Severus Snape has resided at Spinner’s End during school breaks and never relocated.
Severus Snape had attachments to Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry just like Harry Potter and Voldemort. So he never had much interest in relocating nor purchase another home. Voldemort would assign Peter Pettigrew Wormtail as a servant to assist Severus Snape.
Severus Snape would treat Peter Pettigrew as if he were a house-elf slave. Narcissa Malfoy and Belatrix Lestrange visited Snape’s house at Spinner’s End to ask him to assist Draco Malfoy’s task
Youth of Severus Snape, the Half-Blood Prince
Severus Snape’s father was abusive and never cared about Seveurs Snape. The Snape family suffered from poverty and Severus Snape was always in rags as well. Severus Snape was unattended by both his parents and he didn’t have friends.
After Severus Snape met another muggle born witch Lily Evans nearby, he had develop some sense of social skills but still they were poor. Severus Snape had resentments against Petunia Evans which may have possibly imprint a bad impression on muggles as Petunia would complain of how dirty Severus Snape and his clothes were.
Severus Snape and James Potter – Start of the Grudge
Like all other students at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, the first day on the Hogwarts Express was destined to determine the rest of the school years.
Severus Snape was with Lily Evans on the Hogwarts Express. However, James Potter and Sirius Black joins them and they make a conversation.
Severus Snape reveals he wishes to be sorted to Slytherin House. James Potter and Sirius Black who resented Slytherin House caught up into an argument with Severus Snape while Lily Evans tried to mediate. Severus Snape was more introverted, reserved and quiet while James Potter was more extroverted, boastful and active. Their first encounter started the grudge between the Marauders and Severus Snape.
Severus Snape, the Half-Blood Prince’s school years at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry
Severus Snape had exceptionally great knowledge and passion in the dark arts and dark magic. By his first year, Severus Snape knew even more about curses, hexes and jinxes than ordinary senior students.
He was also talented in potions so he would modify the textbook recipes by his own after extensive research. Severus Snape would spend time alone researching on potions and inventing new magic spells which many became very ordinary standard spells.
Professor Horace Slughorn also acknowledged the talents and skills of Severus Snape so Severus Snape was also a member of the Slug Club. However, Horace Slughorn didn’t give so much attention to Severus Snape due to his background of poverty and doubts of him to become a political figure.
Severus Snape, the Half-Blood Prince and Slytherin House
Severus Snape was still not good with social skills and didn’t generally manage people relationships well. Gryffindor House students such as the Marauders James Potter and Sirius Black would purposely constantly harass Severus Snape and make fun of him in front of everyone.
Severus Snape developed an even bitter personality by the humiliations that he suffered. However, Slytherin House students would embrace and befriend Severus Snape which Severus Snape also was grateful and relied on.
However, majority of these Slytherin House members including Severus Snape himself join Lord Voldemort as Death Eaters. Lucius Malfoy was the prefect of Slytherin House since Severus Snape joined Hogwarts. Lucius Malfoy took great care of Severus Snape and was fond of him during his school years which was a great relief for Severus Snape’s school years.
Possibly, Severus Snape looked after Draco Malfoy and took care of Slytherin House for the grace of Lucius Malfoy and the friends of Slytherin House during Snape’s school years.
Although Belatrix Lestrange didn’t trust Severus Snape as he kept side on Dumbledore for so long, Narcissa Malfoy sincerely trusted Severus Snape for helping her son Draco Malfoy as they had history.
Spells invented by Severus Snape, the Half-Blood Prince
Levicorpus – Dangling Jinx
Severus Snape as the Half-Blood Prince invented the Dangling Jinx Levicorpus. The Dangling Jinx would hold the person upside down as if the ankle was caught in mid-air. Although Severus Snape invented this jinx, it became a very common spell during Snape’s school years.
In fact, James Potter used this dangling jinx enchanted by the incantation Levicorpus to bully Severus Snape. James Potter used the Levicorpus jinx onto Severus Snape and even revealed Snape’s underwear in front of everyone else.
This was one of the most humiliating moments of Severus Snape’s memories. This memory was also Severus Snape’s biggest regret as well because Severus Snape called Lily Evans a mudblood in his embarrassment when Lily tried to stop James Potter, Sirius Black and Peter Pettigrew.
Severus Snape was embarrassed in front of his childhood friend and crush Lily Evans. He was even more embarrassed that Lily Evans was almost begging the Marauders to stop bullying him.
Severus Snape out of nowhere said ‘I don’t need help from a mudblood’ which broke Lily Evans’s heart. Lily Evans never talked with Severus Snape after on and Severus Snape regrated this moment every day of his life.
Muffliato – ear buzzing charm
The Muffliato charm would make the victim constantly hear a buzzing noise within a certain area. Using the Mufflliato charm could prevent overhearing so it was a great method to prevent wiretapping as well.
Hermione Granger disapproved Harry Potter for using the Muffliato charm, but later on, Hermione Granger becomes a frequent user of the muffliato charm for defensive measures.
Sectumsempra – Slashing Curse
"You dare use my own spells against me, Potter? It was I who invented them — I, the Half-Blood Prince!"
The Slashing Curse or Sectumsempra would send out a slash by the direction that the wand was aiming and casting the spell. Although the slash casted by the Sectumsempra curse didn’t cut through the victim, it would leave severe wounds that cause hemorrhaging, excessive bleeding that would lead the victim to death.
Wounds by curses or dark magic were usually not treatable like ordinary wounds and the counter-spell was crucial for treating wounds caused by curses like Sectumsempra. The counter-curse for Sectumsempra was Vulnera Sanentur that would heal the wounds caused by Sectumsempra.
Sectumsempra was also one of the Half-Blood Prince Severus Snape’s original spells that he developed during his school years. Severus Snape tried his best to not reveal that he was the inventor of the Sectumsempra curse at Hogwarts but still Sectumsempra became a well-known original curse and signature spell of Severus Snape later on.
Langlock – Silence Jinx
Langlock was another jinx invented by Severus Snape as it would silence the victim. The Silence Jinx or Langlock would fix the tongue of the victim to the ceiling of the mouth so the victim couldn’t’ speak. Langlock was a jinx that could be used defensive as it could prevent a wizard or witch from speaking out an incantation. Langlock could also silence a person in general as well.
