Campaign to find the Horcruxes

After Harry Potter came with Tom Marvolo Riddle’s Diary and told the stories of how he destroyed the memories of Voldemort by the Basilisk’s fang, Albus Dumbledore researches and examines the remains of Tom Marvolo Riddle’s Diary.

Albus Dumbledore has never witnessed an object of dark magic with such personality and have such a powerful effect.

Albus Dumbledore theorizes that Voldemort may have made multiple dark artefacts called a horcrux but he wasn’t sure.

Albus Dumbledore gives Harry Potter private lessons of Voldemort and later, Harry Potter retrieves the memories of Professor Horace Slughorn of Horace Slughorn discussing whether multiple horcruxes could be made with Voldemort (young Tom Marvolo Riddle).

Albus Dumbledore confirms that Voldemort made multiple horcruxes which granted him conditional immortality. Albus Dumbledore informs Harry Potter that all horcruxes must be destroyed to vanquish Voldemort.

Albus Dumbledore emphasizes that Harry Potter is destined to search and destroy all the horcruxes per the prophecy between him and Voldemort.

Cave Island of Horcrux

Tom Marvolo Riddle or Voldemort in his youth brought two fellows from Wool’s Orphanage from the coast that was not far away from the Cave Island that hid a horcrux.

Tom Marvolo Riddle committed such a terrible action there that the two fellows were dreaded to even tell. Albus Dumbledore has searched this coast and discovers a Cave Island that was heavily enchanted.

Albus Dumbledore and Harry Potter concluded that this Cave Island had a horcrux hidden. The Cave Island that hid a Horcrux was heavily defended from the outside. Voldemort enchanted the island so no one could use magic to enter or exit the Cave Island.

Voldemort even enchanted the whole island so no wizard or witch could appartate or transport in or appartate or transport out of it.

However, Voldemort only thought of the magic of a human so other magical creatures could use magic within.

After Harry Potter and Albus Dumbledore went through the defenses, and entered the cave, they discover an enchanted boat and another island with a stone basin in it. Except for the lake, all water and moisture would instantly evaporate and banish inside the cave.

Enchanted boat of Cave Island of Horcrux

The enchanted boat was casted magic that would allow only one person able to ride on it. However, the boat could only detect adult wizards or witches so Albus Dumbledore and Harry Potter could both ride on it. Voldemort was always arrogant and he didn’t expect anyone to notice his secret to immortality.

Voldemort also underestimated underage wizards and witches and other creatures that could perform magic such as house-elves because already no wizard or witch could dare to stand against him.

Thus Voldemort casted magic on the enchanted boat to detect adult wizards or witches but the boat couldn’t detect underage-wizards and other creatures.

Emerald Potion – Drink of Despair

At the middle lake was an island with a stone basin filled with an Emerald Potion that emit a green light that lit the whole cave. The Emerald Potion was also referred as the Drink of Despair.

This Emerald Potion or Drink of Despair was personally developed and created by Voldemort. The Emerald Potion had an invisible barrier that would conceal the horcrux hidden at the basin.

Also, only when all of the Emerald Potion was drunken that the horcrux would appear.

All attempt such as spilling, scooping, draining or even transforming the Emerald Potion would fail. The Emerald Potion wouldn’t kill the person who drinks it all, however it would severely weaken the person who drinks it.

Voldemort created the Emerald Potion so it wouldn’t kill the person and only weaken so he could interrogate how the person would end up in the Cave Island of Horcrux.

Voldemort asserted that only he knew of the horcrux so it was vital to identify the source if the fact that he created horcruxes was compromised.

The Emerald Potion would create painful visions, mental pain, physical pain as if it burned, it would also cause fear and make the drinker extremely thirsty as well.

It was impossible to drink the Emerald Potion all at once with a single person’s will so Voldemort enchanted the boat for only one person could ride the boat.

Voldemort thought that his trap to protect the horcrux was perfect as two people could never land on the island in the middle of the lake in the cave. However, the boat couldn’t detect underage wizards so as Albus Dumbledore drank the Emerald Potion, Harry Potter was able to forcefully insist on Dumbledore to drink the whole potion.

Albus Dumbledore drinks the Emerald Potion

Albus Dumbledore’s hand was somehow severely damaged since the start of Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince. Albus Dumbledore even volunteers to drink the whole Emerald Potion and insists on Harry Potter to force him to drink no matter what happens.

Even Albus Dumbledore couldn’t withstand the mental and physical pain that the Emerald Potion created. Albus Dumbledore had horrors and nightmares from his past.

Constantly Albus Dumbledore would beg to quit drinking the potion and even asked Harry Potter to kill him. Harry Potter felt pity on Albus Dumbledore but he supported Albus Dumbledore to finish the Emerald Potion. Albus Dumbledore finally asks for some water and Harry Potter tries to make water with the Aquamenti charm.

Why did the Aquamenti Charm fail

Harry Potter tried to produce water with the Aquamenti Charm however he fails. Voldemort enchanted the whole cave to evaporate any source of water.

Voldemort casted this water evaporation elimination magic as a final line of defense and alarm as the only water source in the cave was the lake surrounding the small island with the stone basin that contained the horcrux.

Lake and the Inferius / Inferi

Harry Potter gets some water from the lake. However, Voldemort cased magic in the lake itself as a last line of defense. Voldemort casted magic on the lake that if any amount of water is taken from the lake, the Inferius or the Inferi hidden in the lake would activate and try to kill the intruders. The Inferius or the Inferi would kill the intruders and possibly even make the intruder another inferius.

Inferius / Inferi – Reanimated Dead

The creatures that resided in the lake of the Cave Island were Inferius or Inferi. Inferius or Inferi were not living creatures but dead bodies that were reanimated by a necromancy.

Technically these were zombies that were risen by necromancy. Voldemort created an army of these magic zombies Inferius from random corpses that he could get and even corpses of the wizards and witches that he murdered.

Inferius had no will no mind and they didn’t feel any pain as well. Inferi/Inferius would only take action by the commands of its master. Inferius couldn’t think and but they were as strong as a grown human adult. As Inferius was also a result of dark magic, Inferius were extremely vulnerable to light, heat and sunlight.

Albus Dumbledore uses a Firestorm magic to repel the Inferius

Right after Harry Potter scooped some water out of the lake, the Inferius that seemed inactive awaken and started to attack Harry Potter. Just about the moment Harry Potter was overwhelmed by the Inferius/Infeir the zombie like reanimated dead from the lake,

Albus Dumbledore makes his last resort and performs a firestorm magic that repelled the inferius. Inferius were weak to heat, light and sunlight and Albus Dumbledore was such a powerful wizard, Harry Potter and Albus Dumbledore successfully escaped the Cave Island that had the Horcrux.

From this Cave Island, Albus Dumbledore and Harry Potter obtains a locket that resembled Salazar Slytherin’s Locket that they witnessed in Morfin Gaunt and Voldemort’s memories. Albus Dumbledore and Harry Potter would immediately return to the ground of Hogwarts(Hogsmeade in the novel)
