Albus Dumbledore gives private lessons to Harry Potter of the information and the past memories of Lord Voldemort that Albus Dumbledore held.
It included memories of an employee of the Ministry of Magic Department of Magical Law Enforcement, Bob Ogden, Albus Dumbledore’s memories, a man’s memory named Morfin Gaunt, a house elf- Hokey’s memories, and finally the memories of Professor Horace Slughorn.
Albus Dumbledore makes discussions with Harry Potter of the connections of these memories with Voldemort as they’ve traveled through the memories with the Pensieve.

An employee of the Magical Law Enforcement Bob Ogden investigates the Guant Shack located just a walk away from Little Hangleton of the case of Morfin Gaunt attacking a muggle named Tom Riddle Senior. Morfin Gaunt’s father Marvolo Gaunt were constantly harassing Morfin’s sister and Marvolo’s daughter Merope Gaunt.
While Bob Ogden tried to stop Marvolo from attacking Merope Gaunt, he had to run away from the Gaunt Shack.
The Gaunt Family
The Gaunt Family was a pure-blood wizard family and also one of the Sacred Twenty-Eight. The Gaunt Family was a descendant of the founder of Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, Salazar Slytherin.
The Gaunt Family thus inherited Parseltongue and often times rather than plain English, the Gaunt Family members would conversate with each other by parsel mouth, the language of serpents and snakes.
The Gaunt Family was one of the most twisted families and the most fanatical family of the pure-blood wizardry supremacy. The Gaunt Family’s obsession with pure-blood led to constant incestuous marriage between the same blood lines.
Descendants of the Guant Family had to suffer from mental instability as an aftermath of the constant marriages between cousins.
The Gaunt House was one of the most powerful families in the wizardry world as their descendancy from Salazar Slytherin and many other powerful wizards.
However, the frenzy of the obsession of pure-blood led to their downfall and the Guant Family lost their fortune and reputation over the time. The Guant House now resides in a small shack named the Guant Shack just a walk away from Little Hangleton.
The Gaunt Shack – Slytherin’s Locket and Gaunt’s Ring
The Gaunt Family resided at the Gaunt Shack that was a walk away from Little Hangleton. The Gaunt Shack was filthy tangled with vines and concealed from the woods with a snake pinned on the front door. The Gaunt Family held onto the heirloom of the Gaunt House that caught the eye of Bob Ogden.
The heirlooms of the Gaunt House were Slytherin’s Locket and Gaunt’s Ring. Tom Riddle or Voldemort’s maternal grandfather Marvolo Gaunt would constantly polish Gaunt’s Ring on his finger and Slytherin’s Locket that would remind him of the glories of the ancestors of the Gaunt Family.
Marvolo Gaunt and Morfin Gaunt
The Father of Merope Gaunt, Marvolo Gaunt and the brother of Merope Gaunt Morfin Gaunt were both radical pure-blood wizard supremacists that were obsessed on the past glory of the Gaunt House.
However, they were the result of constant incestuous marriage and as a result they were mentally instable and very violent. Bob Ogden eventually arrested both Marvolo Gaunt and Morfin Gaunt for the assault on muggles.
Birth of Voldemort and his parents – Tom Riddle Senior and Merope Gaunt
Tom Marvolo Riddle or Lord Voldemort’s parents were Tom Riddle Senior and Merope Gaunt. Merope Gaunt admired the handsome and wealthy Tom Riddle Senior.
However, her brother Morfin Gaunt and father Marvolo Gaunt were radical pure-blood supremacist and ruthlessly assaulted Merope Guant and branded her as a blood-traitor for admiring a muggle.
After Marvolo Gaunt and Morfin Gaunt were arrested by the Ministry of Magic and sentenced to Azkaban, Merope Gaunt somehow attracted Tom Riddle Senior by magic.
It is unknown whether Merope Gaunt used the Imperius Curse or a love potion such as Amortentia, but this wasn’t true love which Merope Gaunt also knew by heart.
However, Merope Gaunt also felt guilty to seduce Tom Riddle Senior she loves by fake love and magic so after she had Tom Marvolo Riddle, Voldemort, she didn’t cast magic or use a potion no more.
However, Tom Riddle Senior as soon as he reverted back to sanity, abandoned Merope Gaunt. Merope Gaunt eventually named Voldemort as Tom Riddle after his father and his middle name Marvolo after his grandfather and headed to Wool’s Orphanage as she sensed her death was near. Merope Gaunt was much weakened just after she gave birth to Tom Marvolo Riddle or Voldemort and passed away.
Albus Dumbledore’s second private Lesson – Albus Dumbledore’s memories – Dumbledore’s first meeting with Voldemort
Albus Dumbledore’s memories with Tom Marvolo Riddle or Voldemort starts with an appointment with Mrs. Cole who was the manager of Wool’s Orphanage. Mrs. Cole warns Dumbledore that ‘odd things’ happened around Tom Marvolo Riddle.
Albus Dumbledore informs Tom Marvolo Riddle that he is a wizard and he is accepted to Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry.
Tom Marvolo Riddle was informed of instructions such as the Hogwarts Express shall depart from Platform 9 and 3 Quarters at King’s Cross Station on 1st of September.
Albus Dumbledore also helped with Tom Marvolo Riddle’s school supplies at Diagon Alley. Tom Marvolo Riddle tells Voldemort that he could speak to snakes which Albus Dumbledore replied it is a rare gift but it is not abnormal.
Wool’s Orphanage and Tom Marvolo Riddle Voldemort
Merope Gaunt suffered from poverty and decided to sell Slytherin’s Locket for ten galleons at Borgin and Burkes.
She gave birth to Voldemort and named him after his father Tom Riddle Senior and the middle name Marvolo after his grandfather Marvolo Gaunt and gave Mrs. Cole who ran the Wools’ Orphanage Tom Marvolo Riddle.
Merope Gaunt died a few hours later after giving birth to Voldemort. Mrs. Cole was a fair enough person and she didn’t abuse the children at Wool’s Orphanage.
Mrs. Cole noticed how calm Tom Marvolo Riddle was as a baby as he didn’t cry much unlike other children. However, as Tom Marvolo Riddle grew, Mrs. Cole noticed that strange terrible events on whoever mistreated Tom Marvolo Riddle.
Some would even disappear after a dispute with Tom Marvolo Riddle. Mrs. Cole warns Albus Dumbledore of the mysterious events that happened around Tom Marvolo Riddle as she never had evidence nor did she witness the terrible events that occurred around Tom Marvolo Riddle.
Tom Marvolo Riddle always hated Wool’s Orphanage as it reminded him of his miserable status and the fact that he was abandoned as Voldemort was narcissistic and always considered himself special.
When he found out he was Slytherin’s Heir and started to terror Hogwarts with the Basilisk, Voldemort was forced to stay at Wool’s Orphanage as the school decided to shut down.
Voldemort eventually closed the Chamber of Secrets and accused Hagrid for the terrors in Hogwarts because he hated to return to the Orphanage away from Hogwarts which made Voldemort feel special and Voldemort truly thought Hogwarts was his home and where he belongs.
Albus Dumbledore’s observation of Voldemort / Tom Marvolo Riddle
Albus Dumbledore admitted that he never knew that Tom Marvolo Riddle would grow up to become such a powerful dark wizard. However, Albus Dumbledore noticed that Tom Riddle had a peculiar habit of keeping and collecting possessions in his room.
Tom Marvolo Riddle would g ather souvenirs that he obtained from his fellows at Wool’s Orphanage and display them in his room.
Dumbledore also noticed that Tom Marvolo riddle preferred to work alone and keep his words to himself as he didn’t share much information to Dumbledore himself. Tom Marvolo Riddle also disliked his name Tom as he thought it was a very common name. Albus Dumbledore noticed this as Tom Riddle would be irritated whenever the name Tom of someone else was raised.
