Rings of Power

By the magic, technology and knowledge taught by Sauron, the elves of Gwaith-i-Mirdain were obsessed with the new knowledge and were thrilled to forge a masterpiece with it. Sauron under the name Annatar would manipulate Celebrimbor and the smiths of the Gwaith-i-Mirdain to forge the Rings of Power.

Under the guidance of Sauron, the nine rings for men and the seven rings for dwarves were forged by Celebrimbor and the smiths of Gwaith-i-Mirdain.

Sauron informed the elves that the rings of power would help the elves retain the powers that they had in Aman and Sauron departed from Eregion back to Mordor to forge the One Ring that shall control all the rings of power.

Creation of the One Ring

Sauron returned to Mordor and headed to Orodruin which is also known as Mount Doom the largest volcano that stood above all mountains in Mordor.

In the deep smiths and fire of Orodruin, Mount Doom, Mordor would rip off his soul and powers into forging a Master Ring that shall control all the other rings of power. Sauron was able to maintain a beautiful appearance before by his magic, however Sauron has ripped off so much of his soul and power into the One Ring so Sauron was never able to regain his appearance.

Without the One Ring, Sauron couldn’t even retain his physical body. The One Ring was forged with all the power that Sauron could infuse and it became indestructible unless it was destroyed by the flames of Mount Doom, Orodruin where the One Ring was forged.

The One Ring was Sauron’s will itself and possessed powerful magic and even connected with Barad-dur of Mordor. Along with the completion of the One Ring, the construction of Barad-Dur also completed and Sauron pursues his final plans to conquer Middle-Earth as the One Ring would allow him to dictate the other rings of power.

However, Sauron never knew that there were another pair of rings forged after he left Eregion the Three Rings for the Elves.

Creation of the three rings of Elves

After Sauron left Eregion, Celebrimbor would apply the knowledge that he learned from Sauron without knowing that he was deceived to forge the Three Rings or the Rings of Power for the elves. Celebrimbro would name the Three Rings, the Ring of Air Vilya, Ring of Fire Narya and Ring of Water Nenya after the basic elements.

The Three Rings for the elves were the masterpiece among the other rings of power and were out of the influence of Sauron. The Three Rings for the elves held different properties with the other 16 rings made for the dwarves and men as they weren’t forged under Sauron.

Valar’s concern of Middle Earth

The Valars sensed the rise of Sauron as well in Middle Earth. And decided to send in Maiars as an emissary of the Valars. The Vala Aule chose one of his apprentices the Maia Curumo who shall also be known as Saruman.

Manwe chose the Maia Olorin who shall also be known as Gandalf as his emissary. Yavanna chose the Maia Aiwendil who shall also be known as Radagast as her emissary.

Orome also chose two Maia named Romestamo and Morinehtar as his emissary. The five emissaries of the Valars would be called the Istari or the wizards that would help Middle-Earth from Sauron’s reign. Yet, Romestamo and Morinehtar were sent to Middle Earth first along with the elf Glorfindel.

Blue Wizards and Glorfindel

There are conflicts over the identity of the Blue Wizards among the Istari as their exact names or when they’ve arrived at Middle Earth is unclear. Yet the Blue wizards would mostly take action in the east trying to cleanse the Easterlings from the corruption of Sauron.

Romestamo and Morinehtar are one of the possibilities of the identity of the Blue Wizards. The Blue Wizards were sent together with the elf Glorfindel to Middle Earth around the time Sauron created the One Ring.

Glorfindel was an elf that sacrificed himself for the refugees of Gondolin, Idril and Earendil during the Siege of Gondolin in the First Age. Glorfindel fought singlehanded with a Balrog and fell together.

The Valars were impressed by the sacrifice of Glorfindel and revived the soul of Glorfindel from the Halls of Mandos and gave him a physical body. The Valars sent Glorfidel to once again save Middle-Earth with his valor and good heart.

Completion of Barad-dur and Sauron’s sense of the Three Rings of the Elves

Together with the completion of the One Ring in the fires of Orodruin, Mount Doom, the tower of Barad-dur was also completed which Sauron also linked together with the One Ring.

However, right after Sauron put on the One Ring to control the rings of power, the elves of Eregion wearing the Three Rings of the Elves sensed Sauron and realized that they were deceived by Sauron.

Celebrimbor realizes that Annatar was actually Sauron and noticed the evil plot Sauron had with the Rings of Power. Sauron, however, after putting on the One Ring for the first time realized that Celebrimbor and the elves of Gwiath-i-Mirdain in Eregion have forged three more rings that were out of the control of Sauron.

Sauron was furious as his original plan was to corrupt the elves with the rings of power, but the elves forged three more rings of power without his notice. Because of the Three Rings of the elves, the identity of Sauron was revealed, yet the Three Rings of the elves were also powerful enough to challenge Sauron.

Assembly of Sauron’s armies

Sauron’s initial plan to seduce and corrupt the elves by controlling the elves with the Rings of Power while he controlled them with the One Ring failed because Celebrimbor and the elves of Eregion created the Three Rings for the Elves that were out of the authority of Sauron and the One Ring.

Sauron decides to take Middle-Earth by force and started to assemble and train his servants for war silently.

However Sauron faced difficulties in uniting the Easterlings and his servants in Ruhn by the Blue wizards Romestamo and Morinehtar that were sent by the Valars trying to cleanse the East. Sauron couldn’t gather much forces from the Easterlings because of the Blue Wizards.
