Years of the Sun – First Age
The Children of Hurin - Outlaw Turin and Guarwaith
Turin kills the leader of a group of outlaws called Guarwaith at the Forest of Brethil and he becomes the leader and commence attack on orcs. Beleg searched for Turin and found him after Beleg had heard rumors of outlaws that were raiding orcs. Turin refused to return to Doriath and Beleg had to return to Doriath empty handed.
After years, Turin captured a petty-dwarf (This is different from orcs) named Mim and took over his lands. Beleg after years asked for permission to Thingol to join Turin’s forces while Beleg was given the black sword Anglachel that was forged by Eol, the father of Maeglin.
Melian would bless and make lembas, the elven bread or waybread to Beleg for his journey. The Maia Melian had the recipe for lembas where most believe that the recipe of lembas originates from the Valar Yavanna.
Beleg brought the dragon helm of Dor-lomin and gave it to Turin while he joined him. Gaurwaith would clear the orcs at west of Beleriand.
The Children of Hurin - Betrayal of Mim, Accidental murder of Beleg
Mim betrayed Turin and all the men of Gaurwaith were killed except for Turin who was captured prisoner. Beleg has tracked the trails of the orcs to rescue Turin.
Beleg rescued an elf named Ginwdor from Nargothrond who was captured as a prisoner during Niraneth Arnoediad.
Beleg also saved Turin but Turin when awakened suddenly felt doom and horrors and accidentally stabbed Beleg with Beleg’s sword the Anglachel.
Every tragedy that happened in Turin’s life was due to the Curse of Morgoth. The Anglachel that sensed the blood of its owner would turn black as it ‘mourned with sorrows’ by the death of its master.
The Children of Hurin - Journey to Nargothrond and forging of Gurthang and Finduilas
Gwindor and Turin would come to Nargothrond and Turin forged the Gurthang after Beleg’s sword Anglachel that meant ‘Iron Death’. Turin disguised himself by calling himself Agarwaen the son of Umarth which means “Covered with Blood”, and “the son of bad destiny”.
Turin may have been human, however after living long aside Thingol as Thingol’s foster child, Turin spoke and acted like an elf which impressed many of the elves of Nargothrond.
Finduilas the daughter of Orodreth and the sister of Gil-Galad started to secretly admired Turin, however Turin rejected her as Finduilas was once the fiancé of Gwindor before he was captured by Morgoth.
The Children of Hurin - Turin’s arrogance and open policy, Curse of Morgoth upon Nargothrond, Bridge of Nargothrond
Gwindor eventually told Finduilas of Agarwaen’s identity was Turin and word that the famous human hero Hurin’s son Turin’s identity spread throughout Nargothrond.
The Curse of Morgoth started to doom the fate of Nargothrond. Turin became a council member for Orodreth, the king of Nargothrond but he grew arrogant by his achievements and urges that Orodreth to pursue an open policy and actively commence war against Morgoth.
Gwindor objected to Turin and demanded that Nargothrond should stay hidden from Morgoth. However, no one listened to Gwindor as they were heightened by the words of the popular and famous Turin. By Turin’s open-door policy and active action against Morgoth, the Bridge of Nargothrond was constructed.
The Valar Ulmo has sent messengers to warn Nargothrond to stay hidden and destroy the Bridge of Nargothord, yet king Orodreth and Nargothrond was already eager for war against Morgoth without noticing the doom upon them.
The Children of Hurin - Morwen and Nienor Arrival at Doriath
Hithlum and Dor-Lomin was controlled by the Easterlings, however stories of a human hero cleansing the west of Beleriand reaches Morwen, Turin’s mother and wife of Hurin and her daughter Nienor who was Turin’s sister.
Morwen knew that this hero was her son Turin and decided to journey to Doriath with her daughter Nienor. However, Morwen and Nienord would only learn that Turin was long gone from Doriath.
The Children of Hurin - Glaurung’s march to Nargothrond and Brandir
After Turin’s suggestion to actively resist Morgoth, the elves of Nargothrond could temporarily clear the forces of Morgoth out of Beleriand.
However, Morgoth who already had the edge on the war with the elves was dormant only because Morgoth didn’t know the exact locations of Gondolin, Doriath and Nargothrond.
Thanks to the Bridge of Nargothrond that clearly showed the passage to the Realm of Nargothrond, Morgoth gives Glaurung the father of dragons the orders to destroy the Realm of Nargothrond. The House of Haleth was residing and protecting Brethil that was in the route to Nargothrond from Angband.
Glaurung’s forces would attack the House of Haleth in Brethil and killed Brandir’s father the chieftain of the House of Haleth. Bradnir became the lord of Brethil and despite their defeat he would lead parties to ambush the orcs in Brethil
The Children of Hurin - Death of Orodreth, Fall of the Realm of Nargothrond
Glaurung and his army marcehd to the Realm of Nargothrond. Glaurung was able to crush the gates of Nargothrond thanks to the giant Bridge of Nargothrond that was built by Turin’s suggestion as normally, the narrow passage wouldn’t allow such many forces to cross.
Glaurung was able to locate Nargothrond thanks to the bridge as well. Orodreth stood at the frontline of defense for Nargothrond and was killed by the armies of Morgoth and even Gwindor was killed by the armies of Morgoth.
It didn’t take long for Glaurung and the armies of Morgoth to burn down the Realm of Nargothrond into ashes.
The Children of Hurin - Gaze of the Dragon, Curse of the Dragon, Death of Finduilas
While the elf army was annhialated by Glaurung and its orcs, Turin confronted Glaurung and Glaurung gave him the Gaze of the Dragon which was also powerful curse of the dragon. Glaurung hypnothized Turin and gave him visions of the suffering and agony of Turin’s mother Morwen and his sister Nienor.
Meanwhile, Orodreth’s daughter Finduilas was taken prsioner being dragged right in front of Turin being cursed by the glare of Glaurung.
Turin went into a berserk and would head to Dor-lomin by the deception of Glaurung while Finduilas was screaming for help.
The orcs that were convyoing the prisoners of Nargothrond including Finduilas were ambushed by the men of Brethil led by Brandir and the orcs excecuted all the prisoners during the ambush including Finduilas. The men of Brethil would burry Finduilas and called the grave of Finduilas the Haudh-en-Elleth.
