[Harry Potter] – Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows - Summary Part 22 - The Deathly Hallows explained - Resurrection Stone, Elder Wand and the Cloak of Invisibility

300x250

The Resurrection Stone is not the Sorcerer’s Stone / The Resurrection Stone is not the Philosopher’s Stone

Many confuse the Sorcerer’s Stone or the Philosopher’s Stone that Albus Dumbledore’s old friend and alchemist Nicolas Flamel created with the Resurrection Stone.

Honestly the Sorcerer’s Stone seems better as it was the key ingredient for the Elixir of Life that could expand life span while the Resurrection Stone could only call the dead for a slight conversation.

Why was Voldemort only interested in the Elder Wand

Voldemort had almost no knowledge of the Deathly Hallows so he had to rely on Garrick Ollivander on obtaining the Elder Wand.

Voldemort was only interested in the Elder Wand as well because he already though he achieved immortality by creating six horcruxes and himself thus fragmenting his soul into seven pieces. (Voldemort didn’t know that Harry Potter was another horcrux.)

Voldemort was only initially interested in the Sorcerer’s Stone because he thought it could forge a body for him.

Voldemort wasn’t interested in the Cloak of Invisibility and the Resurrection Stone and possibly didn’t even know of their existence.

While Voldemort was a descendant of Cadmus Peverell and the Resurrection Stone was inherited within the Guant’s Ring, Voldemort never noticed the mark of the Deathly Hallows.

Albus Dumbledore & Gellert Grindelwald and the Deathly Hallows

Gellert Grindelwald visited Godric Hollow of his great aunt Bathilda Bagshot and he intended to investigate of some information about the Deathly Hallows.

He met young Albus Dumbledore and together they researched on the Deathly Hallows. Gellert Grindelwald developed his symbol from the Deathly Hallows and initially planned with Albus Dumbledore to create an army of zombies, Inferius by the Resurrection Stone, yield the Elder Wand and possess the Cloak of Invisibility to dominate the world.

Gellert Grindelwald declared such conquest “For the Greater Good” which becomes a motto for him. After the tragedy of Ariana Dumbledore, Albus Dumbledore turns against Gellert Grindelwald and decides he shall never turn in favor for power, wealth in greed.

However, Albus Dumbledore won the Elder Wand by winning his legendary duel with Gellert Grindelwald.

Harry Potter, descendant of Ignotus Peverell, the youngest brother

Ignotus Peverell the youngest brother at the Tale of the Three Brothers and Death by Beedle the Bard was a distant ancestor of Harry Potter.

After an amount of time, the Potter family possessed the Invisibility Cloak and this deathly hallow became into possession of Harry Potter by birth right. Ignotus Peverell’s grave lied in the cemetery of Godric Hollow where the Potter family has resided.

Albus Dumbledore held the Invisibility Cloak after he discovered James Potter had such a peculiar item. After researching the Cloak of Invisibility by his old curiosity, Albus Dumbledore sent the Cloak of Invisibility to its owner Harry Potter on Christmas during Harry Potter’s first year at Hogwarts.

Voldemort, descendant of Cadmus Peverell, the second brother

Voldemort and Harry Potter were thus actually very distant relatives as Voldemort from the Gaunt Family was a distant descendant of the Peverell Family.

Descendants of Cadmus Peverell have somehow scrubbed the Resurrection Stone onto the Gaunt’s Ring and the Gaunt’s Ring has become an heirloom of the Gaunt Family. Thus, Voldemort was both a descendant of Cadmus Peverell and Salzar Slytherin

Mark of the Deathly Hallows

The Invisibility Cloak represented the triangle, the Elder Wand represented the line in the middle while the Resurrection Stone represented the circle for the mark of the Deathly Hallows. Legends of the Deathly Hallows mentioned that possession of all three Deathly Hallows would make the owner the ‘Master of Death’.

Master of Death Harry Potter

Albus Dumbledore explained Harry Potter that Lily Potter’s blood magic within Harry Potter and Voldemort where Voldemort obtained by resurrection with Harry Potter’s blood at the graveyard of Little Hangleton was the main cause that Harry Potter didn’t die.

However, possibly Harry Potter didn’t die from Voldemort at the Forbidden Forest because he was the true owner of all three Deathly Hallows and so called the first ever known ‘Master of Death’.

Resurrection Stone

The Resurrection Stone was inside the Gaunt’s Ring while Voldemort didn’t know and make the Gaunt’s Ring his horcrux.

Voldemort never knew love nor did he have any person that he wanted to see so even though he held possession of the Gaunt’s Ring, he would have never recognize anything special of the Resurrection Stone on the Gaunt’s Ring.

Albus Dumbledore felt the urge to wear the Gaunt’s Ring because of the Resurrection Stone resonating with his desire to just once apologize to his dead sister Ariana Dumbledore.

Albus Dumbledore couldn’t resist such desire and wore Gaunt’s Ring and was infected by the deadly curse that Voldemort intended to protect the Gaunt’s Ring without knowing the existence of the Resurrection Stone.

Albus Dumbledore destroyed the Gaunt’s Ring with the sword of Gyrffindor and left the Resurrection Stone into Harry Potter’s first snitch so it would open at the appropriate moment.

Harry Potter let off the Resurrection Stone after he was struck by the Killing Curse at the Forbidden Forest. Harry Potter left the Resurrection Stone to be undiscovered and never went after it again.

Cloak of Invisibility

There were other invisible cloaks that were available in the wizarding world. There was also a disillusionment charm that could make someone invisible.

Also, although temporary, a magical creature demiguise had fur that could become invisible so the demiguise fur became a key ingredient for invisibility cloaks.

However the Deathly Hallow Cloak of Invisibility was special as although it doesn’t protect the person from spells, the Cloak of Invisibility never wore off or tore off by any other means.

Also, the Cloak of Invisibility was unique as it would maintain permanent invisibility. The youngest brother Ignotus Peverell was believed to receive the Cloak of Invisibility from Death.

Elder Wand

Antioch Peverell, the eldest brother requested Death the most powerful wand in the world. Made from a elder wood 15 inches long(about 38cm) with a Thestral tail hair core, Death gave the Elder Wand or the Wand of Destiny or the Deathstick to him.

A wand made from thestral hair core would require the owner to accept death if the owner was to wield its true power.

In the movies, thestrals are described as hairless so the substance thestral hair core itself is somewhat a substance that cannot exist making the Elder Wand perceived as more legendary.

As the owners of the Elder Wand shared a bloody history, many believed that the Elder Wand shifted masters by murdering the previous master.

This proved to be wrong as Draco Malfoy simply disarmed Albus Dumbledore at the Astronomy tower but became the master of the Elder Wand without knowing so.

Harry Potter became the true master of the Elder Wand after disarming Draco Malfoy at the Malfoy Manor capture and escape. After Voldemort took the Elder Wand from the White Tomb of Albus Dumbledore, he was defeated by Harry Potter as the Elder Wand refused to attack its true owner.

In the movie Harry Potter breaks the Elder Wand, but in the novel Harry Potter restores and fixes his original wand and places the Elder Wand into Albus Dumbledore’s tomb again.

Why did the Elder Wand accept Harry Potter as its master?

Unlike legend, the Elder Wand’s ownership wasn’t won by death. The Elder Wand didn’t accept any form of defeat and instantly shifted loyalty if its owner ever loses one part during a duel.

Thus, disarming the master of the Elder Wand was simply enough to win the Elder Wand as the Elder Wand never accepted such defeat.

Also, possibly the Elder Wand would have pledged full allegiance to only those who have truly accepted death. Harry Potter decides that he shall naturally die just like his ancestor Ignotus Peverell and never lose a duel so the once Harry Potter dies, the Elder Wand would never serve another master.
