Deluminator – Albus Dumbledore’s invention that removed light.

 

 

The Deluminator was an object that was about the size of a large zippo lighter. Once Albus Dumbledore arrived at Surrey County, Little Whinging Privet Drive, he extracted all the light from the streetlights by using this deluminator.

This device could not only extract light from luminant sources, but it could also luminate objects from the light that it had collected before.

 

 

Animagus – Minerva McGonagall’s cat transformation

 

 

Professor Minerva McGonagall was the Head of House Gryffindor, headmistress of Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry where she lectured in Transfiguration. Transfiguration included transformation, vanishing and all sorts of spells and magic that included change of form.

Professor Minerva McGonagall’s transformation to a cat and back to human was called Animagi which was a skill that could be performed without a wand or casting a spell.

 

 

A wizard or witch that could perform Animagi was called an Animagus. Animagi was a very difficult spell and only talented wizard, or witches could have the potential to become an Animagus.

In other words, even if wizard or witches had the talent to become an Animagus, they would have to train extensively to actually perform animagi. In fact, animagi was such a powerful skill that could potentially be of misuse, the Ministry of Magic demands all animagus to be registered.

 

 

November 1st, 1981, Rubeus Hagrid brings Harry Potter to the Dursley’s

After Harry Potter’s parents James Potter and Lily Potter were murdered by Lord Voldemort on Halloween (31st October 1981), Rubeus Hagrid brings Harry Potter to 4 Privet Drive, Little Whinging where Lily Potter’s sister Petunia Dursley with her husband Vernon Dursley and their son Dudley Dursley lived.

 

 

Albus Dumbledore asked Rubeus Hagrid to take care of Harry Potter and bring him from the tragedy to his aunt’s house personally. Though professor McGonagall distrusted Hagrid, Albus Dumbledore had firm trust on Rubeus Hagrid.

Considering Rubeus Hagrid’s relationship with Harry Potter, there first encounter was meaningful. Also, Hagrid’s motorcycle itself is an item of someone special to Harry Potter that is revealed later on in the series.

 

 

Address of Harry Potter

The address of Harry Potter was ‘The Cupboard under the Stairs, 4 Privet Drive, Little Whinging, Surrey’. Although some parts of this address are fictional it is referred that Harry Potter’s address and the Dursley’s address located in the southeast part of England.

 

 

Surrey is a real county that exists and borders Greater London on its northeast side. A county in England (the definition of the United States is also similar) is an administrative unit that consists of several towns or cities and the surrounding area.

For England, there are 48 counties that are based, and the names of counties derive from ancient England counties that existed. Little Whinging was a fictional imaginary town.

 

 

Albus Dumbledore’s implication of Harry Potter’s journey

 

After reading the whole Harry Potter series or watching all the cinematic series, the dialogue between professor McGonagall and Professor Dumbledore might even frightens viewers.

 

 

Professor McGonagall : Albus, do you really think it safe, leaving him with these people? I've watched them all day. They're the worst sort of Muggles imaginable. They really are...

Dumbledore : The only family he has.

Professor McGonagall : This boy will be famous. There won't be a child in our world who doesn't know his name.

Dumbledore : Exactly. He's far better off growing up away from all of that. Until he is ready.

 

 

Parseltongue – How could Harry Potter speak with snakes

During the Dursley’s visit to the zoo, Harry Potter talks with a python in the reptile exhibition. Harry Potter subconsciously conversates with the python and even releases the snake which implied he had magic skills.

Parseltongue was the language of serpents and snakes where a magician witch that could conversate in parsel tongue were called parselmouth.

 

 

The Dursley family members

Petunia Evans was the sister of Lily Evans who was Harry Potter’s mother. Petunia married Vernon Dursley and became a housewife. Petunia Dursley didn’t have potential as a witch and was a muggle.

Vernon Dursley was the director of a company named Grunnings that manufactured drills. Vernon Dursely had a sister named Marjorie Dursley that would later appear in the series.

 

 

Vernon and Petunia’s only son was Dudley Dursley. Dudley Dursley was a spoiled child in his youth and bullied Harry Potter severely in dissatisfaction of living with his cousin.

Once Harry Potter awakens his potential as a wizard, Dudley would encounter a constrictor and even have a pig’s tail grow out that were event that viewers would have enjoyed.

 

 

You’re a Wizard, Harry – the most famous lines of Harry Potter

When the Dursley’s family fled on the Hut-On-The-Rock to avoid the owls delivering the massive amounts of Harry’s Hogwarts acceptance letter, Rubeus Hagrid would kick through the doors and eventually deliver the Hogwarts acceptance letter to Harry Potter himself.

 

 

While Harry couldn’t get a grasp of what was happening, Hagrid comes next to Harry and said the most famous lines of the Harry Potter. “Yer a wizard, Harry” "You're a Wizard, Harry".

The miserable fate and harsh reality of the boy who lost his parents and was forced to live with his aunt’s that abused and bullied him turned the tide right after this famous line.

 

 

This line didn’t only signal the start of the great journeys of Harry Potter but it also gave great expectations to the readers and viewers of a vast world of imagination. Also, it might have also gave hope to those who were tired and bored of the agony, miseries of reality.
