Memories of Severus Snape – Harry Potter, the seventh horcrux of Voldemort

Before Harry Potter and Albus Dumbledore left for the Cave Island of Slytherin’s Locket, Albus Dumbledore informs Severus Snape an important fact of Harry Potter that Harry Potter was also a horcrux of Voldemort. Severus Snape was confused as he didn’t realize what Albus Dumbledore meant at the first place.

Albus Dumbledore slowly tells Severus Snape that Harry Potter also must die as Harry Potter became a horcrux the night the Potter family were murdered.

While Voldemort murdered Lily Potter, the love magic by the sacrifice of Lily Potter rebounded to Voldemort and a fragment of Voldemort’s soul parted from him.

The soul fragment of Voldemort immediately took place into Harry Potter. Harry Potter was a parselmouth and could speak parseltongue even though he wasn’t a descendant of Salazar Slytherin or the Gaunt family because there was a soul fragment of Voldemort.

Also, Harry Potter could get into the minds of Voldemort because Voldemort’s soul was partially living inside him. Harry Potter’s wand with the same phoenix feather with Voldemort could have resonate with the soul fragment of Voldemort inside Harry Potter.

Severus Snape was furious as he thought Albus Dumbledore kept Lily Potter’s son Harry Potter alive only to murder him in pursuit of Albus Dumbledore’s own ambition to destroy Voldemort.

Although Severus Snape had mixed emotions with Harry Potter, he has been protecting Harry Potter only because of his pure heart and love for Lily Potter and felt betrayed of Albus Dumbledore’s thoughts of only planning to kil; Harry Potter at the right moment as a long-term project to destroy Voldemort.

Albus Dumbledore says that it he never intended Harry Potter as such method but the inconvenient truth is that Harry Potter is another horcrux of Voldemort that must be destroyed at one point.

Severus Snape shows his patronus which was a doe that surprises Albus Dumbledore. A patronus would transform into the same animal guardian with the person that one would truly love.

Thus Severus Snape’s patronus transformed to a doe because he sincerely loved Lily Potter and Lily Potter’s patronus was a doe. Harry Potter views Severus Snape visiting the Potter family house with the dead Lily Potter in his arms crying in sorrows.

Albus Dumbledore: “After all this time?”

Severus Snape: “Always”

Memories of Severus Snape – Double Agent for the Order of the Pheonix

Harry Potter realizes why Severus Snape reacted so ferociously whenever he was called a coward. Not a single person on earth could have had the courage, guts and will to become a double agent for Voldemort and the Order of the Pheonix where it was inevitable to raise hostility in both parties.

Harry Potter was shocked to learn that Severus Snape, the professor that he has hated for a lifetime was in fact the most loyal person that has protected him from all harm from the first time.

Harry Potter was even shocked that Snape protected him merely because he was the son of Snape’s crush Lily Potter despite the grudge he had with James Potter, Harry’s father.

While Harry Potter learned that he was another horcrux of Voldemort and inevitably had to die, possibly Harry Potter would have been inspired by Severus Snape’s courage by his memories as well.

Harry Potter after seeing Severus Snape’s memories also become courageous and decides to make the ultimate sacrifice to destroy Voldemort.

Memories and truth of Severus Snape – During the timeline of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows

For the Battle of the Seven Potors, Severus Snape actually made the idea but he used the confundus charm onto Mundungus Fletcher to let him think it was his idea.

Severus Snape knew that of how much control that Voldemort and the Death Eaters had so he had no choice but had to make such a daring risk to relocate Harry Poter safely before his 17th birthday by the Polyjuice potion and multiple diversion.

During the Battle of the Seven Potters, Severus Snape was also among the Death Eaters. Severus Snape targeted a Death Eater that was after Remus Lupin and aimed a Sectumempra curse onto the Death Eater.

Unfortunately, Severus Snape hit George Weasley’s ear slicing it off. After Severus Snape has become the headmaster, although he didn’t come out much from his office, he did his best to protect the students.

When Neville Longbottom, Ginny Weasley and Luna Lovegood broke in to steal the Sword of Gryffindor and caught, Severus Snape send them to detention with Hagrid instead of letting Alecto Carrow and Amycus Carrow.

After receiving information from the portrait of Phineas Nigellus and discussion with the portrait of Albus Dumbledore, Severus Snape hid the real Sword of Gryffindor that was behind Albus Dumbledore’s portrait in the pond of the Forest of Dean.

He gave the fake Sword of Gryffindor to Bellatrix Lestrange. Severus Snape summoned his patronus, a doe which was the patronus guardian of Lily Potter who he has truly loved.

A patronus guardian animal would transform into the same patronus guardian animal if they’ve truly loved. Harry Potter was able to find the Sword of Gryffindor by the doe patronus of Severus Snape in the frozen pond.

Before Voldemort summoned Snape, Snape asked for some time so he could find Harry Potter. Severus Snape has been searching for Harry Potter so he could provide these vital memories and the truth that Harry Potter was the final horcrux.

Luckly, Harry Potter, Ron and Hermione were at the scene of the death of Severus Snape and successfully retrieve Severus Snape’s memories. After examining the memories of Severus Snape, Harry Potter was just speechless.

Voldemort and Severus Snape

Voldemort was one of the most skilled Legillimens which was a wizard or witch talented in Legilimency. Voldemort never trusted his servants because he could navigate through their minds very easily.

However, Severus Snape was a skilled Occlumens which was a wizard or witch that was skilled in Occlumency so he could disguise his real mind from Voldemort.

Thus, Severus Snape was among the few that Voldemort had complete trust. Voldemort may have had more respect to Snape because Severus Snape and Voldemort shared many similarities.

For Voldemort, Snape always proved himself worthy so Voldemort did even consider not killing Lily Potter for Snape which eventually failed.

However, for Voldemort, even the most loyal servants weren’t as much as important as himself so eventually Voldemort murdered Snape as he thought murdering Snape would win him the ownership of the Elder Wand.

Voldemort and Severus Snape’s similarities and differences

Voldemort, Tom Marvolo Riddle and Severus Snape both had a pure-blooded witch mother Merope Gaunt, Eileen Prince and a muggle father Tom Riddle senior and Tobias Snape.

Voldemort and Snape both had resentments against their muggle father and struggled with social skills during their youth. Both were sorted into Slytherin House and they were academically excellent while both also had a desire and passion in the dark arts.

Tom Marvolo Riddle would name himself Voldemort after an anagram I am Lord Voldemort and abandoned his real name. Severus Snape would call himself the Half-blood Prince after the maternal family name and his blood status.

Both resented their paternal name by their muggle side father that was passed down to them. However Voldemort never knew nor understood love, sacrifice or cooperation while Severus Snape knew love and was strongly motivated by the love for Lily Potter(Lily Evans) and eventually sacrificed himself for the greater good and the love he had for Lily.

Severus Snape was ashamed of his past where he referred himself as the Half-Blood Prince and abandoned his alias and lived as Severus Snape despite the bitter family history and past that he had.

While Voldemort refused his past denied the history that forged him and neglected the power of love nor the harmony to live with others.

Severus Snape is also human

Although Severus Snape was almost the second protagonist of the Harry Potter series, Severus Snape also had negative traits but all characters of the Harry Potter series had their pros and cons that shows everyone is just human and not perfect.

Severus Snape was biased for Slytherin House and particularly strict against Gryffindor House students. Severus Snape was extremely hostile to students such as Neville Longbottom without much reason.

It is possible that Severus Snape was especially hostile to Neville Longbottom to an extent where Neville Longbottom developed a boggart as Snape because Voldemort didn’t choose Neville Longbottom but chose Harry Potter as the chosen one of the prophecies which led and reminded Snape of Lily’s death.

He was extremely strict on students expecting they should all at least receive an ‘A’ for their O.W.L. exams as well.
