Symbol of the Deathly Hallows
Albus Dumbledore once studied an ancient legend of ‘death’ that involved legendary artefacts called the Deathly Hallows. Viktor Krum was outrageous of seeing the symbol of the Deathly Hallows as they resembled the symbol of Gellert Grindelwald. This symbol is viewed in Albus Dumbledore’s office.
Licorice Snap
The black candy that bit Harry Potter was a magical snack that was called licorice snap. Albus Dumbledore was a famous sweet tooth which he would even name the password to his office after sweets such as sherbert lemon.
Licorice Snaps were kept as Albus Dumbledore would nip on them occasionally. Licorice Snaps bit Harry Potter which made him stumble and discover the Pensieve.
Pensieve
The Pensieve was an extremely rare and powerful magic artefact that took a form of an silver metal basin with ancient runes and symbols engraved on it. The Pensieve could store and view memories into a viewable stream within its basin.
People could look into the memories of other people by the Pensieve as it caught every detail of the memories of a person who has put their memory into the Penseive’s basin.
The memories of a person could be extracted by magic or objects such as one’s tears that contain memories could be used to store memories in the Pensieve.
The four founders of Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry discovered the Pensieve which is in headmaster Albus Dumbledore’s office and they’ve decided to build Hogwarts on the site that the Pensieve was discovered.
The Pensieve itself was such a rare and powerful magical artefact and it could be dangerous for those with not enough magic skills to review the memories by the Pensieve as it could obliterate the mind.
Death Eaters after Lord Voldemort disappeared.
After Lord Voldemort mysteriously banished after the murder of the parents of Harry Potter, there was only chaos to the Death Eaters.
Death Eaters who were still loyal to Lord Voldemort desperately went after him and eventually ended up in Azkaban or killed by Aurors which were the policing forces of the British Ministry of Magic.
Majority of the Death Eaters claimed that they were under the Imperius curse by Lord Voldemort and begged for mercy which a lot were granted.
Apart from the Death Eaters that were blindly loyal to Voldemort and those who false testified they were under the Imperius curse and mind controlled, Igor Karkaroff sold out his fellow Death Eaters which enraged a lot of Death Eaters and Lord Voldemort himself.
Still, the Death Eaters would cause riots torturing muggle born witches and wizards or even went after hunting muggles.
Some Death Eater rioted at the Quidditch World Cup final but they’ve all fled after they encounter the Death Mark in the sky which was the symbol of Lord Voldemort. The Death Eaters were afraid of Lord Voldemort’s return as those Death Eaters who were intact were so as they’ve denied their allegiance to Lord Voldemort.
Trial of Igor Karkaroff
Even after Lord Voldemort mysteriously disappeared and Harry Potter survived, Death Eaters would torture muggle born witches and wizards and hunt muggles.
Igor Karkaroff was arrested for the assistance of muggle tortures. Igor Karkaroff feared imprisonment in Azkaban and instantly offered a judicial transaction or a plea bargain with the Wizengamot which was the High Court and the parliament of the British Ministry of Magic.
Igor Karakroff gave off names and identities of Death Eaters and bargained his freedom. Death Eaters didn’t exactly know of each other’s identity or names on purpose by Lord Voldemort so he could control the Death Eaters more easily as each would be even more cautious and so he could identify and eliminate traitors more easily.
Eventually Igor Karkaroff’s plea bargain worked as he snitched on his fellow Death Eaters that were enough to satisfy Bartemius Crouch Senior who used to be the Head of the Department of Magical Law Enforcement and the chairman of the Wizengamot.
The First Wizarding War and Bartemius Crouch Senior
The crime war between the British Wizardry world with Lord Voldemort and his Death Eaters was called the First Wizarding War. Bartemius Crouch Senior was the Head of the Department of Magical Law Enforcement and in other words the chief of the aurors which were the wizarding world’s policing force.
Bartemius Crouch Senior approved and authorized aurors the use of Unforgivable Curses against the Death Eaters and allowed no mercy on the subjugation of the Death Eaters.
Aurors including Alastor Moody fought bloody merciless battles with the Death Eaters and after the mysterious disappearance of Lord Voldemort, the Ministry of Magic caught the edge of the First Wizarding War.
Names of the Death Eaters that Igor Karkaroff gave
A lot of Death Eaters were anonymous among themselves as a security measure by Lord Voldemort. However, Igor Karkaroff feared imprisonment of Azkaban and gave up a lot of names and identities of the Death Eaters.
Igor Karkaroff gave up the names and identities of Mulciber, Travers, Evan Rosier, Antonin Dolohov, Severus Snape, Augustus Rookwood, and…. Bartemius Crouch Junior. Igor Karkaroff may have gave up a lot more identities of the Death Eaters.
However, Bartemius Crouch Junior was one of the most unexpected names of the public as he was the son of Bartemius Crouch Senior who was the Head of the Department of Magical Law Enforcement eager to defeat the Death Eaters and participating in the front lines himself.
Also, Augustus Rookwood was the internal spy for the Death Eaters as he collected intelligence from the Ministry of Magic while Augustus Rookwood worked in the Department of Mysteries.
The other names Igor Karkaroff gave were already captured killed, and in the case of Severus Snape insured by Albus Dumbledore that he was a double-agent . Augustus Rookwood and Bartemius Crouch Junior’s names were surely adequate to secure Igor Karkaroff’s plea bargain.
Harry Potter first gets to know that Severus Snape was once a Death Eater but Albus Dumbledore defends him that he was a double agent.
Bartemius Crouch Scandal – Bartemius Crouch Senior’s downfall
As chairman of the Wizengamot, Head of the Department of Magic Law Enforcement, and the hero of the First Wizarding War, the public supported Bartemius Crouch Senior as the next Minister of Magic.
However, by the trial of Igor Karkaroff, his son Bartemius Crouch Junior turned out to be one of the most loyal servants of Lord Voldemort. Bartemius Crouch Senior was emotionally hurt, but he sentenced his own son a sentence to Azkaban without mercy.
Although the crime of Bartemius Crouch Junior was severe, Bartemius Crouch Senior ruthlessly ignoring his son’s sentence to Azkaban without mercy gave the public a bad impression on Bartemius Crouch Senior.
The public started to not trust Bartemius Crouch Senior as he couldn’t even manage his own son and also opinions of Bartemius Crouch Senior’s remorseless tactics during the war against Lord Voldemort and the Death Eaters along with his son’s sentence caused concerns of Bartemius Crouch Senior’s cruelty and ruthless nature as well.
Bartemius Crouch Senior fails to become the Minister of Magic and faces a downfall ending up as the Head of the Department of International Magical Co-opeartion.
Crimes of Bartemius Crouch Junior – Torture of Neville’s parents
Bartemius Crouch Junior was one of the Death Eaters responsible for the terror on Alice Longbottom and Frank Longbottom who were Neville Longbottom’s parents.
Neville Longbottom’s parents Frank and Alice Longbottom were aurors but the Death Eaters including Bartemius Crouch Junior turned them insane by the cruel extensive torture by the Cruciatus Curse.
Both suffered permanent mental damage and has bene hospitalized at the St Mungo’s Hospital for Magical Maladies and Injuries for life as the damage that Neville’s parents suffered were permanent.
Harry Potter notices this by the Penseive but agrees with Albus Dumbledore to keep it a secret to everyone as Neville never told anyone of this yet because it was one of his worst nightmares.
