Harry Potter’s dream

Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire starts off from Harry Potter’s odd dream of an old muggle man named Frank Bryce noticing a plot of Voldemort, Peter Pettigrew(wormtail), and a snake that Voldemort’s voice calls Nagini in the Riddle House.

They kill a lady and Frank Bryce witnesses this scene which the snake Nagini informs Voldemort. Voldemort’s voice is only heard and the old man Frank Bryce who has overheard their plot fell after a ‘flash of green light’.

Later this small house they were in is known as Little Hangleton. Little Hangleton is one of the fictional locations in Great Britian of the Harry Potter series that is presumed to be nearby Great Hangleton England.

Frank Bryce – Gardener of the Riddle House

The Riddle House refers to the house owned by the Riddle family. This isn’t a house full of riddles. Frank Bryce was the old gardener that managed the now abandoned Riddle House after the mysterious death of the Riddle family members.

Frank Bryce was pleaded not guilty for the murder of the Riddle family members, but many still suspected Frank Bryce for the murder of the Riddle family.

Frank Bryce notices an unusual light in the Riddle House and heads to the Riddle House. Frank Bryce peeks into the room and notices a dead woman, a snake and an unusual conversation that plotted another death with some unusual voices. Soon Frank Bryce sees a green flash and dies.

Dudley’s Diet and the Quidditch World Cup

Aunt Petunia and Uncle Vernon Dursley ignored the poor grades and notices of Dudly bullying others but they could not ignore the health warnings of Dudley’s obesity. The Dursley family plan on a harsh diet. Harry didn’t need a diet but the Dursley’s didn’t want to provoke Dudly so they even gave a smaller portion of grapefruits to Harry.

Harry receiving some treats from his friends hears about the Quidditch World Cup opening in Great Britian. Harry was sick of living off grapefruits and the Dursley’s were forced to allow him to attend the Quidditch World Cup.

Quidditch World Cup

The Quidditch World Cup was like the actual soccer/football World Cup held every four years. The Quidditch World Cup was a competition of Quidditch players that represented their country and nationality while there were also professional Quidditch leagues in each country as well like how soccer/football clubs in the world were.

The Quidditch World Cup was held since 1473 and Harry Potter gets an opportunity to visit the finals of the Quidditch World Cup where Ireland and Bulgaria clashed for the final victory with the Weasley family and the Diggory family.

International Confederation of Wizards Quidditch Committee (ICWQC)

The International Confederation of Wizards Quidditch Committee (ICWQC) managed the Quidditch World Cup like FIFA(Federation Internationale de Football Association) manages the soccer/football World Cup. Quidditch had its roots and the rules of Quidditch also originated from England.

The International Confederation of Wizards Quidditch Committee(ICWQC) succeeded the management of Quidditch rules and the ICWQC managed all tasks of hosting the Quidditch matches in international level from assigning referees and updating the rule book.

Qualification for the Quidditch World Cup

Although one seeker must catch the Golden Snitch to end a Quidditch match, for the qualifying stages of the Quidditch World Cup, each match was limited to four hours. Over two years, sixteen groups of teams across the world were formed and compete for a seat in the Quidditch World Cup. Only the first country of each group could qualify for the available 16 seats of the Quidditch World Cup.

For example If there were 48 countries trying to qualify for the Quidditch World Cup, there would be 16 groups of three countries that would compete for the sixteen seats for the Quidditch World Cup where only the first team among each group of three would qualify for the Quidditch World Cup.

Points for the Qualification round of the Quidditch World Cup

If the Golden Snitch wasn’t caught and the Quidditch match ended per the four-hour limit, the winner was decided by the Quaffle points and receive two win-points.

A win by 150 points would give the winner five more winning points, a win by 100 points gave three more winning points while 50 points granted one more winning point. If there was a tie on the first place of the group stage, the country who caught more snitches would qualify for the Quidditch World Cup.

Quidditch World Cup Knockout stage

The sixteen countries that qualified for the Quidditch World Cup knockout stages. Regardless of the regions, the team that won most of the winning points during the qualifying rounds met the team with the least winning points during the qualifying rounds and so forth.

Quidditch World Cup final in 1994 – The Quidditch World Cup final that Harry attended

The Bulgarian National team with their start seeker Viktor Krum who was only 18 years old and still attending school met the Ireland National team famous for their superior chasers that dominated over everyone.

The young star keeper Viktor Krum catches the snitch dramatically fooling the Irish seeker Aidan Lynch, however, the Ireland National team was already leading the game by 170 points to 10 points against the Bulgarian National team.

Thus, the Ireland National Quidditch team won the Quidditch World Cup against the Bulgarian National Quidditch team by 170-160. The catch of the golden snitch automatically ends the Quidditch game and gives 150 points but the Irish chasers were superior and already outscored the Bulgarian Quidditch team by 160 points before Victor Krum caught the snitch.

Riot at the Quidditch World Cup

The former followers of Voldemort, Death Eaters caused a riot torturing the muggle Roberts family. They’ve started attacking other muggle-born witches and wizards as well. Draco Malfoy taunts Hermione that the Death Eaters were after them. However, this riot becomes even more chaos as someone shot off the Death Mark which was a sign of Lord Voldemort.

Even the death eaters somehow starts to flee and the Quidditch World Cup becomes an even serious chaos. Aurors and Bartemius Crouch senior chases after the criminal who shot off the Death Mark.

They discover that Winky who was the house-elf of the Crouch family, Bartemius Crouch senior’s own house-elf was responsible for shooting off the death mark as they investigated a wand in Winky’s possession. Bartemius Crouch senior fires Winky and Winky is in despair.

(Winky is only in the novel). Winky even gets drunk but befriends Dobby and at the same time disgusts Dobby’s idea of freedom as unemployment and senses of freedom was a dishonor in the house-elf society. Winky secures a job at Hogwarts.

Portkey

Porkey was a magical object that could perform teleportation to a specific location to anyone who touches it. Among floo powder, apparition, broomsticks, portkeys were one of the known transportation methods in the wizardry society.

The Portkey was somewhat an unpleasant journey which would cause nausea or worse. Underaged or old people were recommended to not actually transport by a portkey due to this great stress to the body. Any kind of object could be turned into a portkey by the spelk “Portus”. However, every portkey produced must required authorization before production and registered to  the Ministry of Magic.

The Diggory Family

Amos Diggory was the father of Cedric Diggory and worked for the Regulation and Control of Magical Creatures department at the British Ministry of Magic. Cedric Diggory was the captain of the Hufflepuff Quidditch team and prefect of Hufflepuff House who even offered the victory of the Quidditch match victory to Gryffindor when Harry fell off from his broom by a dementor attack which Oliver Wood declined.

Amos Diggory was sort of blindly proud of his son Cedric Diggory(which he did deserve a bit though) and Cedric Diggory was one of the most generous, kind and talented wizard at Hogwarts.

The Diggory lived nearby the Burrow and Arthur Weasley and Amos Diggory were friends at work at the British Ministry of Magic so they've planned on watching the Quidditch World Cup final together.
