Truth of Sirius Black and the murder of James Potter and Lily Potter
Sirius Black was framed the notorious servant of Lord Voldemort and the betrayer of Lily Potter and James Potter as well as the murderer of innocent muggles. It turned out that Peter Pettigrew was the actual traitor of the Potter family and the murderer of innocent muggles.
Peter Pettigrew was able to impute all his crimes onto Sirius Black as he escaped the crime scene faking his death by cutting off a finger.
Petter Pettigrew (including all the marauder members) was an unregistered animagus so all the wizarding society thought Petter Pettigrew was a hero while shocked by the crime scene which poor Sirius Black was convicted of.
Sirius Black was out of his mind by the betrayal of his once known friend Petter Pettigrew and how helpless he was for the death of James Potter and Lily Potter.
Sirius Black and Peter Pettigrew – Secret-Keeper : Why did nobody know about the truth of Sirius Black and Peter Pettigrew
Among Sirius Black, James Potter, Remus Lupin and Peter Pettigrew, the marauders, especially Sirius Black and James Potter were close as if they were brothers by blood. James Potter granted Sirius Black as guardian of Harry Potter. However, after an insidious prophecy, the Potter family had to hide from Lord Voldemort.
The Order of the Pheonix which was a rebel group against Lord Voldemort led by Albus Dumbledore instated Sirius Black as the Secret-Keeper and the only person who knew of the location of the Potter family.
However, Sirius Black thought it was too obvious that he was the Secret-Keeper. Sirius Black thus secretly switched the role of Secret-Keeper with Petter Pettigrew as another security measure within the Order of the Pheonix.
However, Petter Pettigrew was a Gryffindor, he was brave enough to betray his old friends. Peter Pettigrew informed the location of the Potter family to Lord Voldemort to spare his lives as Peter thought no one stood a chance against Lord Voldemort.
Sirius Black was devastated by the betrayal of Peter Pettigrew and tracked him down. However, Peter Pettigrew upon encountering Sirius Black revolted with a powerful curse that killed 12 muggles around them.
Peter Pettigrew then cut off his own finger so he could impute his crimes and the truth of the Potter family murder onto Sirius Black and fled as a rat, his animagus form.
No one in the Order of the Pheonix knew of Sirius Black changing his role as Secret-Keeper. The wizardry society thought Peter Pettigrew was murdered by Sirius Black and Sirius Black was the traitor of the Potter family that put so much faith on him.
Sirius Black became falsely notorious as Lord Voldemort’s loyal servant and murder. He was sentenced to Azkaban for the crimes of Peter Pettigrew.
Why did Sirius Black escape Azkaban after all these years?
Sirius Black was devastated by Peter Pettigrew’s betrayal and the fact that he was helpless for the death of James Potter and Lily Potter. He was mentally crazy and hopeless without any motivation. However, after an interrogation, Sirius Black saw the headline of the Daily Prophet.
Sirius Black witnessed Scabbers the rat which was actually Peter Pettigrew in his animagus form on the first page of the Daily Prophet. Sirius Black saw the Weasley family Egypt trip as they won the annual Daily Prophet Grand Prize Galleon Draw.
Sirius Black found a spark back and he escapes Azkaban which was the first “known” escape at that time.
Remus Lupin
Albus Dumbledore found Remus Lupin who was hiding from the society. The wizarding society was never kind to werewolves and often werewolves would live in poverty as it was extremely difficult to get an occupation as a werewolf in the wizardry world.
Albus Dumbledore offered Remus Lupin the professor in Defense Against the Dark Arts. Remus Lupin refused but Albus Dumbledore informed that there Severus Snape agreed to supply wolfsbane potions for Remus Lupin.
Despite the conflicts between Severus Snape and the Marauders, Remus Lupin had a relatively moderate relationship with Severus Snape. Remus Lupin finally accepted the professor of Defense Against the Dark Arts after confirmation of Severus Snape’s cooperation providing wolfsbane potion that relives the symptoms of werewolf transformation.
Remus Lupin was a kindhearted person and was praised as the best professor in Defense Against the Dark Arts. Remus John Lupin or Remus Lupin didn’t know of the truth of Petter Pettigrew and Sirius Black nor did Albus Dumbledore.
Remus Lupin catches Harry Potter with the Marauder’s Map which Remus Lupin was Moony who was one of the creators of the Marauder’s Map.
Remus Lupin takes away the Marauder’s Map from Harry because he still didn’t know the truth of Peter Pettigrew and Sirius Black by then. In the movie, Harry Potter informs Remus Lupin that he saw Peter Pettigrew on the map.
In the novel, Remus Lupin confirms Peter Pettigrew with the Marauder’s Map at Hagrid’s shack. Remus Lupin knew the Marauder’s Map wouldn’t lie and he realizes that something must be wrong after spotting Peter Pettigrew on the Marauder’s Map.
Why did Remus Lupin become a werewolf
Remus Lupin’s father publicly posted an opinion that werewolves should be eliminated from the wizardry world. Already, there was great discrimination against the werewolves which Remus Lupin would also suffer from poverty due to the discrimination against werewolves.
However Remus Lupin’s father’s advocacy provoked the leader of the radical werewolves, Fenrir Greyback. Fenrir Greyback avenged by biting Remus Lupin and infecting him with lycanthropy which made Remus Lupin a werewolf.
Werewolf of Harry Potter
Werewolf or lycanthrope was the result of lycanthropy which was a disease that unwillingly transforms a human to a werewolf under the full moon.
Lycanthropy infected humans by the saliva and blood of another werewolf. Even if a human isn’t infected by werewolves but only injured, it would cause permanent damage that wouldn’t heal like ordinary wounds and the injured personnel would show some behaviors similar to wolves such as having an appetite for raw meat.
Humans infected with lycanthropy once transformed into a werewolf under the full moon, were not conscious of their human form. In other words, werewolves wouldn’t remember anything as a human once transformed into a wolf.
However, once werewolves revert back to their human form, they would remember their actions which caused immense guilt.
Werewolves showed an unusual hostility only against humans. The members of the marauders became animagus’s to help Remus Lupin when he transformed into a wolf because werewolves weren’t excessively hostile to animals as they were to humans.
A cure didn’t exist to treat lycanthropy but a wolfsbane potion could help a werewolf maintain its conscious while it transformed.
A werewolf must had to take wolfsbane potion for a week everyday just before the full moon to see effect. Remus Lupin may have forgot a dose right on the day of his transformation when Harry Potter found out of the truth of Peter Pettigrew so Remus Lupin was unconscious of himself when he transformed.
Wolfsbane Potion
The Wolfsbane Potion and werewolves were mentioned during the earlier parts of the Harry Potter series. One of the questions of Professor Severus Snape gave to Harry Potter for the first time was “What is the difference between monkshood and wolfsbane”.
These were the same plan that were also known as an aconite. These were the key ingredient for the wolfsbane potion.
Other ingredients of a wolfsbane potion included dragon blood moonstone, mandrake leaves, syrup of hellebore, occamy eggs, sophorous beans, and murtlap tentacles.
However, these ingredients were expensive and the wolfsbane potion brewing process itself required the skills of a potion master level to brew. Despite their history, Professor Snape agreed to brew the wolfsbane potion for Remus Lupin although there were still some tensions between them.
