Who were the Mason’s family?
The family that Vernon Dursley invited at the start of the Secret of Chambers was the Mason’s family. The Dursley family prepared a fancy dinner because the mason family was about to propose a business deal with Vernon Dursley’s drill company the Grunnings.
However, this deal was blown over because of Dobby’s attempt to stop Harry Potter to attending Hogwarts on 1992. In the movie, Dobby drops a cake on the mason’s, in the novel, Petunia’s pudding was only dropped to the floor but an owl fly in and drops a post on Mrs. Mason who had a phobia of birds.
Decree for the Reasonable Restriction of Underage Sorcery
Harry Potter doesn’t receive a warning in the films but in the novel, he receives a letter from the Improper Use of Magic Office as he was suspected of using magic against the mason’s although it was dobby the house-elf.
The Decree for the Reasonable Restriction of Underage Sorcery restricted witches and wizards under seventeen from using magic.
The Decree for the Reasonable Restriction of Underage Sorcery was legislated as underaged magicians could cause trouble and lack the responsibility of abiding to the International Statue of Wizarding Secrecy.
Weasley Family
J.K. Rowling mentioned that she has set the Weasley family as red-heads and named them after the animal weasel. Irish and British culture were in spite of weasels traditionally and redheads were associated with many superstitions as well.
J.K. Rowling mentioned she wanted to take back some of those superstitions by the Weasley family.
The Weasley family similarly hated by the pure-blood families and branded ‘blood traitor’ as the Weasley family was part of the Sacred Twenty-Eight pure blood family but they were fond of muggles and actually supported equality between muggles and the wizardry society.
The Weasley family lived near Somerset County, Devon along the River Otter. More specifically, they lived in their house called the Burrow that was nearby the Ottery St Catchpole village(this is fictional).
Ronald Weasley’s grandparents
Septimus Weasley married Cedrella Black who was from the Black family that was also part of the Sacred Twenty-eight.
The Black family was a radical pure-blood family and Cedrella Weasley had to face disputes with her family. Septimus Weasley and Cedrella Weasley had three children which Arthur Weasley who was Ron Weasley’s father was their youngest son.
Ron Weasley’s parents
Arthur Weasley married Molly Prewett as they’ve dated since their school years at Hogwarts. Both of them were Gryffindor House. The Prewett family was also a family of the Sacred Twenty-Eight although both didn’t discriminate muggle borns or muggle mixed witches and wizards.
Arthur Weasley was the head of the Misuse of Muggle Artefacts Office under the British Ministry of Magic. Molly Weasley was the housewife and managed the seven children she had with Arthur Weasley.
William Arthur Weasley – Eldest brother of Ron
William Arthur Weasley was the first child of the Weasley and often referred as Bill Weasley. Like all the Weasley family, he was a Gryffindor House student at Hogwarts.
He was the prefect of Gryffindor House, chaser for the Quidditch team and he was also Head Boy. He managed to land a job at Gringotts Wizarding Bank as a curse-breaker in Egypt.
Charles Weasley – Second oldest brother of Ron
Charles Weasley or Charlie Weasley was the second oldest brother of Ron. He was also the perfect of the Gryffindor House when he was in his fifth grade. Charlie was also the seeker and the captain of the Gryffindor team.
Although he was a bright student, he fell in love with dragons since he was fascinated by Care of Magical Creatures subject. He eventually chose for the Romanian Dragon Sanctuary for his passion of dragons. He delivered Hagrid’s Norwegian Ridgeback dragon Norberta to Romania.
Percy Weasley – Third brother of Ron
Percy Weasley was the prefect when Harry Potter first entered Hogwarts. He was a bright student but was somewhat obsessed with obeying rules and had trouble with the twins Fred and George as they were the masters of pranks.
He dated the Ravenclaw prefect Penelope Clearwater which he tried to keep a secret as much as possible because of the twins. He was eager to catch the heir of Slytherin as his duty as prefect but also after Penelope was petrified. His relationship was exposed inadvertently by Ginny on their way home which the twins took advantage of.
Fred and George – The twin brothers older than Ron
Fred Weasley and Geroge Weasley were the fourth oldest children of the Weasley family of Ron. They were both beaters playing for the Gryffindor Quidditch team.
The twins were infamous pranksters even before attending Hogwarts and they’ve had trouble with their somewhat stubborn and boring brother Percy as they loved to make fun of him.
They’ve often teamed up with Peeves the prankster ghost of Hogwarts to cause trouble. The twins were two years older than Harry and Ron. They were also responsible for rescuing Harry from the Dursley’s incident caused by the house-elf Dobby.
Ronald Bilius Weasley
Ronald Weasley or Ron Weasley was the first fellow Hogwarts student friend that Harry Potter befriended. He did have some self-esteem issues as his brothers were a great deal during their years at Hogwarts.
He fantasied himself as part of the Gryffindor team as he had to see Harry Potter make it to the Gryffindor House Quidditch team at his first year while he couldn’t make it through the try outs yet. Yet, along with Harry, Ron Weasley have went through such adventures together.
Ginerva Molly Weasley – Ron’s younger sister
Ginerva Molly Weasley or Ginny Weasley was the youngest daughter of Arthur and Molly. She was one year younger than Ron and Harry.
Ginny Weasley talked about Harry Potter and Ginny first encountered at the King’s Cross Station during Harry and Ron’s first trip to Hogwarts.
She had feelings to Harry and talked about Harry throughout their first meeting. She felt shy and embarrassed when Ron, Fred and Geroge rescued Harry and brought him to the Burrows. Lucius Malfoy slipped something in her bag that starts the story of the Chamber of the Secrets.
Howler
A howler was a letter that would explode if not opened. A howler would contain a recorded message of the sender that were usually reproofs or reproaches to the recipient.
Ron receives a howler from Molly Weasley who was furious of Ron taking the flying car to Hogwarts while being sighted by seven muggles.
Ron’s father Arthur Weasley already had disputes with pure-blooded families with the new Muggle Protection Act that he proposed but the flying car incident caused him even more trouble as the public opinion turned against him.
The flying car of the Weasley Family – Flying Ford Anglia
The model of the fly car that the Weasley family owned was a Ford Anglia 105E Deluxe that was manufactured by the Ford Motor Company.
Arthur Weasley modified a Ford Anglia 105E Deluxe and named it the Flying Ford Anglia. It was supposed to be invisible when properly used to avoid muggles from spotting it.
The twins and Ron drive the Flying Ford Anglia to 4 Privet Drive to rescue Harry from the Dursley’s. Ron’s mother Molley Weasley reproved the twins and Ron for being reckless although she was delighted to see Harry while Arthur Weasley was rather curious on how well the ford worked than reproving his sons.
Molley was worried as the twins and ron’s actions were against the Reasonable Restriction for Underage Magic but Arthur claimed that technically they drove an enchanted car but they didn’t perform any magic.
The Flying Ford Anglia would take Ron and Weasley to Hogwarts as the house-elf Dobby blocked them from accessing the 11’o clock Hogwarts Express. It was supposed be be invisible, but as the invisible booster went out of action, its concealment spell didn't work on Harry and Ron's route to Hogwarts.
Seven muggles end up seeing the flying car and they’ve crashed into the Whomping Willow that severely damaged the car. Later on, the Flying Ford Anglia rescues Harry, Ron and Fang(Hagrid’s dog) from the Forbidden Forest from Aragog but it disappears afterwards.
