Poppy Pomfrey – Madam Pomfrey, matron of Hogwarts

Poppy Pomfrey or more often referred Madam Pomfrey was the matron of Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizard. She was one of the most senior members of the Hogwarts faculty member during Harry’s years at Hogwarts. She was a very skilled matron specializing in healing which she took pride in.

Nobody could disobey her orders once a patient was under her treatment. Except for patient treatments, Poppy Pomfrey was a very friendly person.

She grew back Harry’s bones by treating skelegrow and she also helped treat the petrified students with the help of professor Pomona Sprout and her mandrakes.

Argus Filch and Mrs. Norris

Arugs Filch was the caretaker of Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. Augus Filch was caught with a letter that had A correspondence course in beginner’s magic Kiwispell.

This was along with the fact that Argus Filch never performed any charms and magic proved that he was a squib.

Argus Filch was a control freak and he resented wizard and witches as he admired magic but couldn’t use magic because he was a squib.

Argus Filch was unpopular with the students of Hogwarts. Argus Filch only favored his cat Mrs. Norris who was bad-tempered with students of Hogwarts as well.

Although he didn’t share much with the students, he was responsible as caretaker of Hogwarts and he knew of Hogwarts better than anyone else.

Argus Filch had years-old rivalry with the poltergeist Peeves because of his mischiefs and pranks which Argus Filch had to be in more pain since the prank masters the Weasley twins George and Fred joined Hogwarts

.

Peeves, the poltergeist of Hogwarts

A poltergeist is a German term that was known as a ghost haunted on certain objects or locations. Poltergeists were different from ghosts and they possessed magic skills. Poltergeists weren’t dead nor were they humans but poltergeists are a different magical being from ghosts, witches and wizards.

Peeves was the poltergeist of Hogwarts who was mischievous and pulled nasty pranks on everyone in Hogwarts.

The twins George and Fred were like rivals with Peeves in terms of making jokes, pranks and causing trouble. Argus Filch and Peeves were battling each other for years. Peeves didn’t appear in the movie series of Harry Potter.

Pheonix

Pheonix in the Harry Potter world were magical creatures also known to live for almost an eternity as they constantly go through the cycle of birth, death and resurrection. Pheonix were a red and gold colored bird that could burst flames.

Phoenixes were especially famous for their strong personalities that were very difficult to please. Only a few people were able to interact with and befriend phoenixes.

Garrick Ollivander used the feather of a phoenix as a core of the wands that he crafted.

Pheonix were also famous for their immunity to even the most deadliest death curses and its tears were famous for its capability of healing almost any disease where rumors say that it could also bring back the dead.

Fawkes – Pheonix of Albus Dumbledore

The phoenix of Albus Dumbledore was named Fawkes. Fawkes was an old companion of Albus Dumbledore, and both shared a close bond together.

Fawkes helped Albus Dumbledore throughout his years and Fawkes also helped Harry Potter resolve the mysteries and troubles caused by the Chamber of Secrets.

The core of Harry Potter’s wand was actually the feather of Dumbledore’s phoenix Fawkes. Fawkes only offered tow feathers during his life which happened to become the two cores for the wands of Harry Potter and Lord Voldemort.

As hard it was to tame a phoenix, the wands of a phoenix core were also very independent and very selective in choosing and obeying their master. Even Albus Dumbledore was astonished when Fawkes helped Harry Potter in the Chamber of Secrets.

Armando Dippet – former headmaster of Hogwarts

Armando Dippet was the former headmaster of Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry before Albus Dumbledore.

Professor Albus Dumbledore was the professor transfiguration during Armando Dippet’s service as headmaster. Armando Dippet expelled Rubeus Hagrid for the muggle-born student attacks as he was unveiled of keeping the Acromantula, the monster spider Aragog by Tom Riddle.

Armando Dippet wasn’t evil or so but a very hard-working headmaster who loved Hogwarts. However, Professor Armando Dippet was very strict in terms of keeping orders and rules.

Acromatula eggs were prohibited of possession by the Ministry of Magic as they were an extremely dangerous species. Nobody knew exactly of what the creature of the Chamber of Secrets was, and the terrors caused by Myrtle’s death almost put a shutdown of Hogwarts.

By this time, only Professor Albus Dumbledore was aware of Tom Riddle’s intentions. Although Armando Dippet immediately expelled Rubeus Hagrid and awarded a special recognition award to Tom Riddle, by Albus Dumbledore’s request, Hagrid was kept and trained as the gamekeeper of Hogwarts.

Phineas Nigellus Black – Predecessor of Armando Dippet

All of the headmasters of Hogwarts had a portrait in the headmaster’s office. Phinease Nigellus Black was the headmaster of Hogwarts even before Armando Dippet.

Phineas Nigellus Black and the Black family were one of the fanatic pure-blood families that claimed pure-blood supremacy.

He was infamous for being stubborn, and keen among the students and faculty members of Hogwarts.

Although he claimed pure-blood supremacy, Phienas Nigellus Black didn’t necessarily mistreat each individual although he would often insult half-bloods or muggle borns as a whole often referring them as mud bloods. Interestingly, he also disagreed with the ideas of Lord Voldemort.

Cornelius Oswald Fudge – Minster for the British Ministry of Magic

Corenlius Fudge was the 32nd Minister for the British Ministry of Magic. He often consulted with Albus Dumbledore over matters and as the British Ministry of Magic was also ultimately responsible for Hogwarts, he would discuss such matters with headmaster Dumbledore as well.

Cornelius Fudge would come out through the Harry Potter series as he first appeared in the Chamber of Secrets to discuss the extradition of Hagrid to Azkaban, the notorious prison of the wizardry world.

Expelliarmus – Snape and Harry Potter

Gilderoy Lockhart attempted to open the dueling club to teach students how to defend themselves. Professor Gilderoy Lockhart invites Professor Snape to explain how dueling in the wizardry world works.

Professor Severus Snape casts the disarming charm Expelliarmus against Gilderoy Lockhart which knocked Gidleroy Lockhart to the floor that was unusual regarding the fame of Gilderoy Lockhart’s heroic adventures.

Harry Potter despite his negative impression of Snape was fascinated by the elegance of Snape casting the Expelliarmus charm as it didn’t necessarily harm the opponent but effectively only disarmed the opponent.

Harry Potter’s first encounter of Expelliarmus by Snape inspired him to use expelliarmus as his signature spell and his first choice of using offensive magic spells.
