Hobbits

Hobbits were also called the halflings as they weren’t considered human but a close relative to humans. A typical hobbit’s height would be 2 feet to 4 feet which is about 60cm ~ 120cm, however hobbits were more related with humans than dwarves.

Not much of the origin of the hobbits is known but they were considered as the free races of the world including the ents, dwarves, elves, men and hobbits.

The first records of hobbits start the Vale of Anduin near Greenwood the Great. As Sauron’s darkness and shadows started to dwell in the Greenwood that corrupted it to the Mirkwoods, the hobbits would migrate west and reached Eriador.

The Shire

The hobbits reached Eriador and migrated further to the southwest of the kingdoms of Arnor. Some of the hobbits would settle in the village of Bree that was just west of the Weather Hills where the tower Amon Sul or Weather Top used to stand before it was destroyed during the invasion of Angmar.

While the hobbits of Bree decided to coexist with the humans at Bree, other hobbits would further move west to the lands of Arthedain.

The hobbits Marcho and Blanco settled at the west side of the river brandywine with the hobbits and asked for permission of the king of Arthedain to settle. The king of Arthedain granted permission to the hobbits to settle at the west bank of the brandywine river called The Shire.

This was called the Reckoning of Shire and while the hobbits were permitted to reside in the Shire, they were asked to support the Arthedain and pay tribute.

The Great Plague

The Great Plague swept the whole Middle-Earth that would affect the humans and hobbits of Middle Earth. Elves were already immune to any kind of diseases so their population wasn’t affected.

The Great Plague swept through Rhovanion, Gondor Ardolan and the Shire. Half of the population of Rhovanion has been sacrificed by the Great Plague.

The Great Plague and Gondor’s retreat from Mordor

The capital of Gondor Osgiliath nearby Rhovanion also suffered high casualties where the king of Gondor was also killed with many of the other men of Gondor. Gondor would relocate its capital to Minas Anor due to the high casualties of Osgiliath.

Gondor already suffered from the civil war during the Kin-Strife and suffered from more loss of manpower due to the Great Plague.

Gondor would eventually retreat their watch forces and deployments on Mordor and the watch out on Mordor became loose.

The White Tree of Gondor also died along with the Great Plague and another White Tree had to be planted. As Mordor was abandoned by Gondor, the dark creatures and the nazguls slowly start to prepare their old fortress for their master Sauron.

Downfall of Cardolan

Rhudaur was in rubbish and only the evil humans of Rhudaur that defected to the Witchking of Angmar remained of Rhudaur. Cardolan suffered from constant conflicts with Angmar and the Great Plague annihilated the population of Cardolan.

The hobbits from the Shire suffered great losses from the Great Plague as well. The kingdom of Cardolan couldn’t sustain its losses during the war with Angmar and the Great Plague and perished.

Among the three kingdoms Rhudaur, Cardolan and Arthedain that were the descendants of Arnor, the Northern Kingdom of the Dunedain, only Arthedain remains. The Great Plague didn’t inflict Athedain as hard as the other countries of men.

Invasion of the Wainriders

A tribe of Easterlings called the Wainriders that would use war wagons and chariots for war would invade from the east of Gondor and attack Rhovanion. The Wainriders dorve out the northmen of Rhovanion while they’ve also defeated the armies of Gondor and even slayed the king of Gondor Narmacil by the Battle of the Plains.

Gondor that was barely recovering from their losses during the Great Plague, would have to evacuate from their territory on the east of the Anduin River except for Ithilien and Minas Ithil.

The Wainriders took over east of the Anduin except for Ithilie and Rhovnaion. The northmen of Rhovanion would all migrate to the Vales of the Anduin and they would call themselves the Eotheod that would later become the Rohirrim and the direct ancestors of Rohan.

Gondor and the Eotheod were able to hold the lines against the wainriders by a revolution of the enslaved men of Rhovanion.

Eotheod

Although Gondor was able to halt the wainriders, the north men of Rhovanion failed to secure their kingdom and the wainriders took over Rhovanion.

While those who failed to evacuate from Rhovanion were enslaved by the wainriders, refugees of the north men of Rhovanion would settle at the Vales of Anduin and call themselves the Eotheod.

While the enslaved men of Rhovanion would revolt against the wainriders, the Eotheod would constantly watch over the wainriders and report their maneuvers to Gondor.

Eotheod would aid Gondor in the war against the wainriders until Gondor was victorious by the Battle of the Camp at the Dagorlad plains.

The Tower of Ecthelion, White Tower of Minas Tirith

Still called Minas Anor, the White Tower of Minas Tirith also known as the Tower of Ethelion was built at the seventh castle wall of the city of Minas Anor(Minas Tirith). The White Tower stood above the Tower Hall where the King of Gondor Throne existed.

The White Tower of Minas Tirith had the Court of the Fountian where the White Tree of Minas Tirith would take place.

Although the exact origins of the White Tower of Minas Tirith is unknown, the elf hero Ecthelion of the Fountain from House of the Fountain of the high elf kingdom Gondolin that slayed the lord of the balrogs Gothmog may have been an inspiration for Gondor.

Alliance of Gondor and Arnor(Arthedain)

The king of Gondor Ondoher would send diplomats to Araphant the king of Arthedain, the last kingdom that remained from Arnor to discuss an alliance against the threasts of the Wainriders(easterlings) and Angmar.

After the death of Elendil, the once unified kingdoms of the Realm of the Exiles would once again reunite by the marriage of the prince Arvedui of Arthedain and Firiel, the princess of Gondor.

War between the Alliance of Gondor and the Eotheod and the Alliance of Harad, Khand and Wainriders

The wainriders made an alliance with Near Harad and Khand that were countries of the Haradrim and other Easterlings south of Gondor. The wainriders would invade Gondor from the north while Khand and Harad would assault Gondor from the south.

Eotheod made warnings to Gondor, however Gondor has been suffering many casualties over the years by the war with the wainriders and the Great Plague.

The wainriders annihilated the Gondor army of the north and even slayed the king of Gondor Ondoher. The wainriders already slayed the kings of Gondor twice and celebrated their victory as there were no forces of Gondor in the north that could resist.

However, the Gondor general Earnil that led the southern Gondor army successfully crushed the armies of Harad and Khand and marched north.

'

Battle of the Camp at Dagorlad

Gondor The wainriders celebrated too early at the Dagorlad plains, however Earnil and the southern Gondor army arrived during the victory ceremony of the wainriders.

The wainriders were ambushed by the southern Gondor army led by Earnil and Earnil was able to wipe out the fleeing wainriders at the plain of the Daogrlad.
