The Oathbreakers – Dead men of Dunharrow, Army of the Dead
In the novel, the Oathbreakers or the Dead men of Dunharrow were never referred as the Army of the Dead but they were referred as the Army of the Dead in the movie of the Lord of the Rings Return of the King.
The Oathbreakers were humans that lived in the north of the White Mountains just beneath Edoras that will become the capital of Rohan. This was located on the passage from Minas Tirith to Edoras. the men of Dunharrow maintained a political alliance with Gondor after Gondor was formed.
The men of Dunharrow pledged loyalty to Isildur on the Hills of Erech where Isildur has summoned them to join the Last Alliance of Elves and Men. However, the men of Dunharrow didn’t join the Alliance and hid deep inside the valley of Harrowdale.
Iisildur after the victory of the War of the Last Alliance of Elves and Men, would curse the Oath breakers to dwell as an undead until they fulfill their allegiance by his heir.
The Dead men of Dunnharrow would later serve Aragorn and help the battle of Minas Tirith fulfilling their oath to Isildur after about 3000 years.
The White Tree of Minas Tirith
Minas Tirith is still called Minas Arnor, and the White Tree of Minas Tirith during the timeline of the Lord of the Rings Return of the King is a descendant of the White Tree that Isildur planted at Minas Arnor.
Isildur after the War of the Last Alliance of the Elves and Men became the High King of Arnor and Gondor called the Elendilmir.
However, as his brother Anarion fell during the war, Isildur took the White Tree seed that he recovered from Minas Ithil when Sauron attacked and planted it in Minas Arnor in remorse of his brother Anarion. Isildur also appointed his nephew Meneldil the king of Gondor.
Meneldil – the actual first king of Gondor
Elendil was the first High King of Gondor and Isildur was the second High King of Gondor technically.
However, as Isildur was murdered during his return to Arnor before he claimed his kingship as the Elendilmir, the High King of Arnor and Gondor, Arnor and Gondor would remain as independent countries although they were both held by the descendants of the Numenoreans.
Thus, Meneldil will become the first king of Gondor to actually rule Gondor. Meneldil was born on Numenor and participated in the War of the Last Alliance of Elves and Men.
As Isildur would head north to rule Arnor, until Aragorn the third became the King of Gondor, the heir of Isildur wouldn’t take the throne of Gondor.
Amon Anwar – Last of the Beacon of Gondor, Tomb of Elendil
Meneldil would bury his grandfather, the First Elendirmir and the hero Elendil at the hills of Eilenaer or Halifirien.
This would later become called Amon Anwar. Centuries later, the Tomb of Elendil would be relocated to Minas Tirith, however Amon Anwar would become the location where the last beacon of Gondor would stand.
Death of Isildur and the Disappearance of the One Ring
Isildur would travel north to Imladris(Rivendell) to consult with Elrond for his ruling of Arnor. While Isildur and his three sons along with his king’s guards, arrived near the Vales of the Anduin at the marshlands of the Gladden field.
The Gladden Field was located to the east of the Misty Mountains, north of Lothlorien and west of Greenwood (Mirkwood) where the Gladden River was a river that joined the Anduin River at the Gladden Fields. Isildur and his sons were ambushed by a force of orcs.
Isildur would order one of his men to carry the shards of Narsil, the blade of his father Elendil and ordered him to deliver it to Elrond at Imladris(Rivendell). Isildur tried to escape with ambush as his party was outnumbered by the One Ring.
However, as Isildur swam in the Gladden River, the One Ring by its own will slipped away from Isildur’s finger. An orc discovered Isildur and slayed him where Isildur’s corpse was never recovered as he drifted along the river.
The One Ring would go missing for almost two thousand years since. The death of Isildur was referred as the Disaster of the Gladden Fields.
Narsil
The name Narsil in Quenya means the Red and White Flame that was a sword held by Elendil. Narsil was a blade that was forged by a the master smith Telchar, a dwarf from Nogrod that used to forge weapons for Thingol, the king of Doriath during the First Age (Telchar lived in an age where the dwarves and elves still befriended each other).
Another masterpiece forged by Telchar was the Angrist that was owned by Curufin and later used by Beren to cut off a Silmaril from the Iron Crown of Morgoth.
Narsil was broken during the War of the Last Alliance of the Elves and Men by Sauron when he took down Elendil. Isildur, however successfully cut off the One Ring with Sauron’s finger with the broken blade Narsil.
After the Disaster of the Gladden Fields and Isildur’s death, the shards of Narsil were brought to Elrond where he would keep them in Imladris(Rivendell) as an heirloom of the Dunedains.
After 3,000 years from, Elrond with the help of the elf craftsman of Rivendell would reforge Narsil into Anduril, the Flame of the West and gift it to Aragorn the third.
Aragorn the third with his blade Anduril, the descendant of Narsil would prove his rights as an heir of Isildur and become the king of Gondor.
Elrond’s marriage with Celebrian
Celebrian was the daughter of Celeborn and Galadriel. While Galadriel and Celebrian visited Imladris to visit Celeborn who was fighting against Sauron during the War of the Elves and Sauron at Eregion, Celebrian fell in love with Elrond secretly.
After the victory of the War of the Last Alliance of Elves and Men which was two thousand years later, Celebrian and Elrond married each other and give birth to their twin sons Elladan and Elrohir and their youngest daughter Arwen, the Evening Star.
Gondor’s watchout on Mordor
